Guilbert, I see you're not committing yourself to a number. I dispute that there have been a number of such films made. There may be a few documentaries knocking about but I don't think you'll find more than 'The Life And Death of Peter Sellers' where biopics are concerned.

Well if he said "'The Life And Death of Peter Sellers' in the first place I would have known what he meant.

To me a biopic can also include documentaries.

I have watched this film in the past and Geoffrey Rush does a fantastic job of playing Peter Sellars.

I have been a fan of comedy all my life, and read a few books about Peter Sellars, and he certainly is a strange character.

One book I read was "The mask behind the mask" and this title summed him up completely.

He was an empty shell of a man who only came to life when inhabitied by another character, the one he was playing in the film. That is why he was so good in films like "Dr Stranglove" or "Im all right Jack", although he did make some terrible films that have been forgotten.

The thing that amazed me in one book was about when he was making Being There, and had to play Chance, who was an empty shell of a man.

Sellars agonized over how to play the part. How do you play the empty shell of a man, when you are already an empty shell of a man.

Then he hit upon the idea of playing it like Stan Laurel (one of his heroes) and when I watch the film now it is like he is playing Stan Laurel.

Sellars was a tortured man who had some real ups and downs in his life, and I think in much of his life he was quite a sad person.

But it is the tortured souls who are the geniuses in their fields.

There is a delicious irony in the fact that all of this research has failed to impress upon the researcher how to spell his subject's name.

I got it right on the first line, but wrong after that.

I am very very sorry. By spelling it wrong you must have had no idea who I was talking about.

I guess that must be the only mistake in the whole internet.

How can you ever forgive me.

No, by 'spelling it wrong', I doubted you had any idea who you were talking about.
