BNP to get a slot on question time

On one hand I can see why the BBC is doing this, it's because the BNP have a lot of support in the country and their Question Time programme endeavours to put people on its panel who represent sections of the voting population. However, many people will boycott the programme because the BNP person is on there and the coverage of that in itself will get loads of publicity for the BNP. So the programme will either go ahead with a depleted panel, or if all of the others boycott then the BNP person will be dropped from the panel for that night, the other panelists will then decide they want to appear (and someone from the Green Party or somewhere will go on instead) and the BNP person will be interviewed in a one-on-one capacity in another programme afterwards or something. But whatever happens it will be a big publicity coup for the BNP. As I said on another post if a person or organisation has a lot of support and a lot of votes then that has to be recognised and acknowledged. If a person or a party are operating outside of the rules laid down for parties and for individuals then there are laws in place to take them to task - so long as those laws are applied evenly throughout society.

No its not a sad day its called democracy and it may have something to do with the fact that the BNP now have to accept non whites into the party, that is of course if any non whites would wish to join them, i doubt if they will get a very good reception on question time but they do have the right to be there like it or not.

This is the slippery slope,once we start seeing fascists like Griffin on mainstream tv people start to think hes acceptable and drop their guard a little,its too dangerous a game to play with these fascists. They should never be allowed airtime.

excellant news.If they are brain dead thugs and evil nazis this will be the ideal opportunity for the establishments finest minds to rip apart their policies and discredit them once and for all.However there is the slight danger that they may come across as having sensible policies that might attract new people to vote for them.oh dear better ban them then !wink!

They are a political party and have 2 MEPs voted for by a sizable portion of the country so why shouldnt they appear?

The sad day is that it is ok for nothing more than celebs to now be on the program but not political parties.

Of course whether the BNP will be allowed to recieve the same level of impartial treatment others recieve on the show will be very unlikely.

Being Irish, im not exactly a fan of the BNP tho i can accept the argument they got 2 euro seats(democracy is hardly perfect,but its the best we got!)and represent the views of a group of people -... makes me wonder , do the people that voted for them Actually see them as a real party, ie fit to Govern Uk plc,becuase as far as i can tell they are a one trick pony..... whichever view regards there legitamacy and relevance you espouse, its gonna make for brilliant viewing!! ... i just hope they never come to power.... PS.. should politicians ALL, be made to take a lie detector test (asking some tough and probing questions) before they get electected then say they REPRESENT US? just a though forumites !wink!xxx
