i didnt see that episode but that was what was so endearing about the guy, that kind of flawed character,"lovely guy who likes a drink and is a then bit of a nightmare to live/work with" kinda thing ... No pretentiousness...will miss his shows and colourfull character... RIP x

another one that springs to mind is when he was cooking over a burning hot wok pissed out of his skull and instead of putting olive oil in accidently threw in brandy and nearly burnt the entire set down

what made it even funnier is 5 minutes later he did the exact same thing again

!drink!.... yes, his shows did have an "edgey" feel to them at times...I like cookery shows per se(as love cooking) So watch loads and they all seem terribly nice .. Thing is,they seem so blande by comparison.He is one of very Few who, if you saw in the pub you"d feel you could have a good banter with,get merry,be late for something important and not care a hoot-cos you"d be enjoying the Craic too much ...... !party!

Yeh I saw that. I nearly pissed myself.
You can always rely on a rugby playing squaddie to give you a laugh.
My son is a rugby playing squaddie and when he came home pissed one night he decided that he wanted some chips.
My missus came down in the morning and they heard the scream across the road. He'd got the oil overhot and chucked in a load of wet chips.
Result, oil all over the fucking place. He gave up and crashed out on the settee. At least the sod turned the oven off. It took me a while to laugh about it mind and it was 12 years ago, My missus still moans about it.
