There has been a lot of coverage today about how this is being torn down. It is the place that lots of people, who are trying to escape from France, stay before coming to the UK and claim for a flat and get Benefits. I must say I've always found this odd: the last time I heard of anyone needing to escape from France was in World War 2 when Germany occupied it. I've been on holiday to France and I never felt like I needed to quickly escape from the country, but all these people who hang around the French ports trying to stowaway on a boat bound for Blighty claim they need to do just that.
You are supposed to claim Asylum in the first safe country you get to and we are at least seven safe countries away from the nearest trouble spot. We have probably taken a million Asylum Seekers in the last 10-15 years. All of whom were being choosy about where they went. Someone from The Afghan Association Of Britian (can you beleive such an organisation exists?) was on the BBC today and had the nerve to say it was wrong to shut the camp - in other words he thinks it right for them to be stay there while they are trying to break into Britain. Who this guy is think he has a right to give an opinion on what Britain should be doing with regard to its immigration policy, I dont know.
Whatever we do they will still keep coming. Our Government could stop it but it doesnt care. If our Government said that they must follow the 'you must claim in the first safe country you get to' rule then none of them would be able to get any Benefits or accomodation here so none would come here. How can it be right that people refuse to claim Asylum in France, when they would be safe there, and come here when they are supposed to claim in the first safe country they arrive in?
Britain is doomed...

Eh? Despite your word ordering I think I get what you're saying: people you don't agree with shouldn't have the right to an opinion. I think you'd quite enjoy North Korea, Max.
People will always follow the money, Max. Maybe Britain isn't as 'broken' as some would have you to believe.

I used to spend a lot of time criticizing Islam on here in the noughties - but things are much better now.

I've not seen the front of the Daily Mail so I dont know what it says. It's not a case of me disliking immigrants, its a case of me disliking lying bastards who abuse the asylum system in order to break-in to the country. France is one of the nicest places on earth to live, so is Germany, yet they pass through there on there way to here and when they get here they pretend they arrived here because they are fleeing persecution. I've not heard of anybody being persecuted in France or Germany for many years. It's like a hungry man arriving at the 8th house in a street and saying he knocked on that door and needed to go into No.8 because he was starving. It then turned out he was offered a banquet at all of the 7 previous properties but delcined the offer of food each time. The notion that he must come into the 8th house as he would starve otherwise is clearly bullshit. To get here as an 'asylum seeker' , claim you need to come here and get Benefits, accomodation, healthcare, protection of the law, etc, yet they declined the offer of it when offered to them in 7 other safe countries en route, shows they didnt need to come here at all, and are just being selective about where they go. Next: on the issue of me thinking that this guy from that Afghan lobby group in Britain has a cheek to say this and that - I stand by my view. I wouldn't expect to be welcomed into another country and then have the right to say this or that and effectively demand changes. It would be a cheeky thing for me to do, and I think it would anger many members of the domestic population there.

The ones who are not in need of asylum and are just using it as a means of getting residency here. They pretend to be fleeing persecution when they are not, and just lie to the authorities. Everyone who used to be called a 'bogus asylum seeker' before the term became un-PC in other words. Do you remember that Somalian 'asylum seeker' who shot dead that police officer, her name was Sharon somebody, in Bradford? He had come here, claimed Asylum, appealed when he was declined (this is after he had been living here for a year or two while they processed his phoney claim), then he appealled again and again, saying he could never return to Somalia as he would be persecuted if he did. He then murdered a Police Office in an armed robbery on a travel agents and the Police were looking for him. He immediately flees Britain and, where does he flee to, Somalia!
I dont like people abusing the asylum system, which the vast majority of applicants are doing, and are just using it as a way to get residency in Britain. Every time your here about 'removals of failed asylum seekers' it is people like that. They didn't have a legitimate claim, pretended they did, and were then rumbled. Why they are not punished I dont know - if any of us diddled the Benefits system for even ?500 we would be punished. So I dont like people like that, and I dont like people who are selective about where they go. If I just wanted a better life in Europe, which is all most of these people want (they are not fleeing anything as such), I would be just as happy in Greece, Fance, Germany, Italy - you name it.
