I have my own theory on this one........

Sol is a closet gay, its well known hes a pillow biter!
Nottingham is the epicentre for fanny, there's LOTS of it with those Uni gals.
Nottingham has no (as far as Im aware) Gay culture/pick-up bars etc.
Sol decides to throw the towel in.

It was the same with that other shirt-lifter, Justin Fashanu when Cloughie brought him to Nottingham Forest.

I have TRIED in vain to get my theory on TALKSport.......and the fuckers won't listen!

I think it's frowned upon to call them "Shirt-lifters" nowadays. I think the correct terms for poofs now is "gay"
