Late-night Hollyoaks this week....

Post by max_tranmere »

E4 has five post-watershed, one hour long, episodes of Hollyoaks this week, and they are a bit more risque than the tea-time ones. I watched tonight's like I've watched the previous three and it was a bit disturbing! Sarah, one of the main characters who has been there for a few years, was going on a parachute jump with two of her girly 'friends'. Lydia, who is a bit of a pyscho, doctored one of the parachutes in the hope of killing Zoe - the third girl. To Lydia's surprise, the man in charge swapped them around and handed all three of them a parachute. They were now playing Russian Roulette as any of them, including Lydia and she knew it, could be jumping with by doctored chute. As they fell, and it really was them sky-diving, they had cameras up close as they fell and it really was the three actresses doing the dive, Sarah's chute didn't work. You saw her go careering towards a field and get splatted!! It was freaky to watch. The last scene was the Police informng her dad that she had just hit the earth at very high speed and was dead. It's still in my mind now! Quite troubling to watch!!

Picking holes in the storyline, I thought you weren't allowed to jump freefall until you'd completed a certain amount of 'tethered' jumps?

The Zoe character did it for real, the others were on wires.

You saw all of their faces as they were falling - like in one take, the camera would go from 50 feet away to up close on the actress's face as both the camera guy, and her, fell through the air.

I always think it is troubling when young people die in TV shows. Sarah is meant to be 18 or 19. It's like when that girl, Ronnie's daughter in Eastenders, died this year. She was only about 18 and the BBC got loads of complaints. If actresses want to leave then the character should just emigrate or something. Why do they have to die a horrible death?

Peter, fair enough, I take back what I said, but it looks so real when you watch it. I was sure the other two did it for real aswell but according to that article they didn't. Knowing this information, if I was to watch the episode again it would probably be a bit more apparent.

have to admit i watched it all week and watched the jump twice on the night as i was trying to decide if it was for real, e4 showed each episode 4 times on the night! i watched the jump again , maybe they all did the junp for real? so if we thought that the effects crew did a convincing job and mow we know only zoe did it for real.
totally rubbish of course, sure its a fact that you go down in tandem with instructor until you progress to a solo level, also the idea that the gear would be unattended like that in the hangar surely can't happen.
And why no reserve chute, isn't that standard practice?
liked the bit with the mcqueens and bonnie tyler in the cell, unfortunately couldn't see enough of the 3 girls dancing behind the bars in the background.
