Sarah, I am glad Griffin went on Question Time as it gives the people a chance to grill him. I've just seen some clips on the BBC News channel (it was recorded an hour or so ago). As usual lots of quotes that Griffin gave about things years ago are thrown at him, and it is right to throw them at him and he should answer them. I do wonder though why the former head of the Muslim Council of Britain, Iqbal Sacranie, is never asked why he said that "death is too good for Salman Rushdie" (the British author who wrote a book which was critical of Islam and their prophet) when you see him interviewed, why he went to the memorial service for the leader of Hamas (the Palastinain suicide bomber group that has killed huge numbers of Israeli's), and why he boycotted the Service on Holocaust Memorial Day in London, and encouraged every other muslim to boycott it, even though every other religion attended. Iqbal Sacranie never gets asked about these things. Or should I say Sir Iqbal Sacranie OBE - after the Government decided to get the Queen to give him a knightwood even though he had previously said all of these things. Griffin should be grilled about the things he has said, but so should everyone else too.

Racist
In 1998 Griffin was found guilty of distributing material likely to incite racial hatred and was given a two year suspended sentence. This included material of an anti- semitic nature.

A Griffin quote "Without the White race, nothing matters. [Other right-wing parties] believe that the answer to the race question is integration and a futile attempt to create ?Black Britons?, while we affirm that non-Whites have no place here at all and will not rest until every last one has left our land.?

Anti Semitic
Griffin remains an ardent Holocaust denier. Even today, he still refuses to accept the Holocaust happened. In 2006 he was quoted in the Mail on Sunday as saying: ?It?s well known that the chimneys from the gas chambers at Auschwitz are fake, built after the war ended.?

In 1995, Griffin joined the BNP. He had become editor of The Rune, an antisemitic quarterly produced by Croydon BNP. Griffin was opposed to attempts to modernise the BNP, accusing those who wanted change of "rainbow Conservatism". He also announced that the BNP should prioritise denying the Holocaust to schoolchildren

Homophobia
Griffin has also held staunchly homophobic views throughout his time at the BNP. Following the bombing of a gay pub in Soho, in which three people died, Griffin wrote, "The TV footage of dozens of 'gay' demonstrators flaunting their perversion in front of the world's journalists showed just why so many ordinary people find these creatures so repulsive".

What does the BNP really stand for?
Racism, anti-semitism and homophobia masquerading as a mainstream political party. In addition, they prey on those pissed off with the recession and the mainstream political parties as well as the individuals who were never the sharpest knife in the kitchen tray.

The law case for example, which was for two of the items in your list - anti-semitism for denying the Holocaust and his conviction for inciting racial hatred. Is that not exact?

Or his homophobia. Is that not exact?

Grammatical errors aside (boring) my sources are pretty much the same as yours, and everyone elses,i would think .... and your perfectly entitled to wonder what his lawyers would think.This is,after all,a democracy...Ps... Do you mean "Griffin"s lawyers",as i thought we were discussing Nick griffin?!wink!.....
