With all this BNP debate going on... one thing mentioned was all the "non whites" that fought in the war and helped to win it.......I always thought it was due to the invasion of Russia???
How did we win the second world war?

You are right in that Hitler's invasion of Russia really weakened the Nazis.
However, without the Indian army which was over 2 million strong, the British would not have been able to fight the Asian, North Africa campaigns etc. with anywhere near the level of success eventually achieved.

Re: How did we win the second world war?
Without America's help we probably wouldnt have won it. Had the Russians not taken Germany street by street, until they had reached central Berlin, I doubt the war would have been won when it had. So the Yanks and the Ruskie's played a major part.
Re: How did we win the second world war?
Television tells us that John Wayne won WW2 after he cleaned up the wild west.
BTW, John Wayne actually fought very hard during the war - to keep out of it! Not quite the hero he portrayed.

Re: How did we win the second world war?
In what sense did 'we' win ?
Re: How did we win the second world war?
I suppose in the sense that we weren't the ones who surrendered
Re: How did we win the second world war?
Been watching a few progs on the history channel and discovery turbo.
If the war had gone on another year or two we would have been fucked.
Also america and russia.
The nazi's where getting close to having nuc's and their jet planes were getting better and better.
The u-boats were sinking ships in the mississippi delta (cant spell that)
and they had a bomber which could reach new york and the eastern side of america.
So america would have been bombed badly
And dont forget the u-boat which was on its way to japan loaded with v2 rockets and materials to make nuc's.so japan would have had the means to make nuc's and bomb america.
while on its way there the second world war ended so the crew surrendered.
The materials went missing after the americans got hold of the u-boat.

Re: How did we win the second world war?
What planet are you on saying the U boats were in the Mississippi? U Boats were fucked by late 44 due to sonar and hedgehog depth charges. The sheer industrial might of America was invincible, their ability to make tanks and aircraft by the thousand, together with an untouched infrastructure would never have buckled.

See below,taken from u-boat.net
also have a look on that site regarding special operations.
you will find a few interesting operations on america.
The discovery of U-166 (June 10, 2001)
This boat was finally discovered and documented in late May 2001 after years and years of unsuccessful research and wreck-hunting. The wreck was located some 45 miles south of the mouth of Mississippi River, by C & C Technologies with their AUV during oil-survey work for BP Amoco and Shell.
We're compiling an article on the loss and eventual discovery of the boat right now, should be ready in the next few days.
Its discovery also changes its official fate since it's now certain that she was lost right after sinking her fourth and last victim, Robert E. Lee on July 30, 1942. Their wrecks are less than one mile from each other.
She is of course a gravesite now and cannot be disturbed, she is protected by some 5000feet of water in this regard.
As you can see u-boats operated in american waters and sank a lot of oil tankers.
I know what planet I am on.....do you?
