Is 'Absolutely Nothing' Possible?

Post by Deano! »

Just wondering - is it possible for there to have been absolutely nothing at all before the universe was created? And by 'nothing' I mean no space, no time, no dimensions, not even zero.

If anyone would know, this forum is the place to ask.

There was absolutely nothing before the beginning of time.

But surely nothing is something.

The only way you can get nothing is from something. Sounds weird I know but if you remind me tomorrow I'll link to a lecture which covers this.

I guess you might actually need to have 'something' in order for 'nothing' to be identified as it's opposite.

As for even nothing being something, I suppose it could be a circumstance or a state of being nothing, but that is really our means of defining it.

Here it is:

It's the physicist, and professor or the School of Earth and Space Exploration as well as head of the Origins Initiative, Lawrence Krauss. He starts his talk about 2:20m in.

Well of course it's not fucking possible.
All this shit spouted by 'experts' about 'the Big Bang' is just that - shit.
There MUST have been something there ALL THE TIME, as from literally nothing comes nothing.
Just because we as humans can't get our fucking heads round this concept doesn't mean it's bullshit, it just means that there's something, somewhere, far , far wiser than us.
And let's face it, thank GOD for that!

I don't know much about him. Know a book of his and come across a few of his lectures but that's about it. I just remembered this lecture because it was pretty recent and Deano's question about 'nothingness' reminded me.

I don't know about intellectual either ? maybe if I understood it to a greater degree than I currently do!
