Fall Sound?!!!

Having saw the Fall for the 6th time at the weekend & being absolutely spellbound them again, it just confirmed my thoughts that they are one of the greatest live bands around! Not only that, but are one of the all time greatest bands ever!

With the release of "Our Future - Your Clutter" on January on Domino Records, this will be the bands 29th Album, not including Live Albums and Compilations, which takes it up to 60 odd albums! The band have been going strong from 1976, with the one constant - Mark E. Smith! One of the greatest front men ever and one of the Greatest Lyricist's of all time along with Morrissey & Leonard Cohen!

Championed by John Peel and receiving enormous Critical Acclaim, with such albums as Hex Enduction Hour, Grotesque (After The Gramme), Extricate, The Infotainment Scan, The Nations Saving Grace, Shift Work, Country On The Click, The Wonderful And Frightening World Of...., Fall Heads Roll and Last Years Masterpiece Imperial Wax Solvent, the band have changed styles, pushed barriers and have created a wonderful back catalogue, as John Peel said "Always Different - Always The Same!"

The Band have also put on a play in 'Hey Luciani' a ballet with Michael Clarke 'I Am Kurious, Oranj' and Smith has co-written The Fall with Mick Middles and written his own book Renegade!

I've loved the band for years now & have mentioned them and Mark E. on a good few posts about music on the O/T over the years and never once had any response or feedback on them! Except one time from the Lovely 'Red' who is a Fall fan! Fantastic. Just wondering if there are any more Fall fans out there, or if anyone else has any other opinions!

In Mr Mark E. Smith's fantastic achievements it is also worth pointing out his song Theme for Sparta FC was used for the BBC Football Results service and the man himself was allowed to read the results.

the theme is still used for the football results, and if you read "Renegade" Mark E. tells a brilliant story about him getting to read the results and the 2 BBC Girls that the BEEB made work that weekend just to keep an eye on him! Really Funny!

Yeah. Mark E. Smith tells the story of John Walters seeing a gig of the Fall's somewhere South and writing him a letter saying that the Fall were the most useless, tuneless band he had ever heard, "even worse than Siouxsie and the Banshees" and then asked him if he wanted to do a recording for the John Peel show.

An interviewer's nightmare! Lauren Laverne interviewing Mark was like watching Bambi being put into a lion's cage.

I saw Mark E in a pub in Manchester last week. I was going to ask him what he thought about Brix appearing on the telly as a fashion slut with Gok Wan, but I decided not to as I didn't want to be glassed.

Smith's current wife is about half Brix's age. I think she will have helped him to 'move on' from Brix.
