Porn is just like any other commodity in as such as that when the returns fall below the production cost then producers stop producing , as an example if iron ore drops to a low where its no longer profitable to mine it then they close the mines until they get the price they want, have we yet reached that stage here in the UK adult industry, i suppose you are looking at around ?1,000 minimum in cost just to shoot a basic porno scene with model/s wages, studio or hotel hire and camera equipment etc, so have we now reached the point where we are closing down the porn mines ? !wink!

Re: Porn As A Commodity
It certainly looks that way and has come to my attention by members of various social network sites asking why I havent updated with my latest shoot. Ive stopped production only because Im so far ahead it is ridiculous and thats largely because there wasnt that much work going around with the other producers why I was in such demand
To sum up: Yes probably

According to the recent Naked Britain programme on Sky1 something that is booming in this recession is webcamming, apparently people are still turning to porn in hard times to give themselves a lift but they now want the personal touch from a camgirl, so it appers that guys and girls would rather jerk off to a live performance than a recorded one on a website, maybe thats where the future of porn now is, in live performances. !wink!

Yep i can believe that. There is no recession in porn. Porn is making more money than ever.
Its just those who were having large slices of the cake are now getting crumbs from that very same cake and that cake is bigger than it used to be with the internet included now.

Maybe live performances are something existing porn sites can include in their membership along with the recorded material, after all its not to difficult to set up a webcam when you are shooting a scene, you then post the date and time of the shoot on your site with no guarantees because of model no shows and other unforseen problems but its worth a go if it brings more sign ups, also studios that are used to shoot porn could gear themselves up to shoot live performances as it would probably bring them in more bookings, of course this would mean showing a scene with warts and all no chance of editing but maybe thats what people want to see !wink!

Can porn be deemed a commodity though? A more accurate description would be a service, surely?

Oh come on Terry even me with my low tech knowledge could set up a web cam on a shoot, when you say its not viable are you referring to a cost basis because i cannot buy into that, most people allready have the tools needed to set it up anyway, i can see on your Real Couples site there may be a problem doing it if you are shooting in people own homes but studios could easily be set up to do it !wink!

I disagree Sam, a prostitute selling sex is providing a service but porn in itself is merely a commodity, but if someone is pimping porn ie: selling it then they also are providing a service !wink!
