I remember back in the mid to late 1990's when Chris Evans did the breakfast show on Radio One and was hosting TFI Friday on Channel 4 each week. He earned ?7,000 a day for doing Radio One and claimed to earn over ?100,000 a week from television. He was one of the most famous and, in the eyes of some people, one of the 'coolest' people in the land. He was always featured on the front pages of the tabloids and so on. He had his own production company, Ginger Productions, and it started producing other shows. After a while he sold it to a large media conglomerate in Scotland for milllions and millions of pounds. You may remember that Chris had a posse of people that were always around him, they were on his Radio One shows, chipping in with comments as they sat in the studio with him, and were always doing small features on TFI Friday as well. When he was photographed out in town, there were normally one or two of them with him. They were his work mates and his buddies too. He said a while later that most of them lived in properties that he owned - clearly confirmation that he was spending his cash on expensive properties in London, which is always a good investment as you can sell the place later for a big profit. So Chris has made all his money from these things I've described here (I am writing all of this from memory, I haven't done any research into it).

He had a massive following. When he became known on the 'Big Breakfast' on Channel 4 he would win awards in TV magazines like 'Britains Cuddliest TV Presenter' (these awards were actually called things like that) and so on. He would also endorse some charity cause and many people would donate, huge numbers of people would turn up at places in order to meet him and get their photo taken with him. Yeah, I would say many people regarded him as 'cool' back then.

I saw him interviewed on 'The Friday Night Show' on BBC1 Northern Ireland last Friday. It is filmed, and only screened, in that province, but as I have Sky I can watch it here in London (BBC1 Northern Ireland is Sky Channel 973). I wasnt very impressed, he was bragging about how much money he has which is never very impressive. Evans said 'did you know I started with very little but I ended up buying Lionel Ritchie's old house in Hollywood'. I remember he used to gloat a lot on TFI Friday, about how rich he was, and people even wrote in to complain!
