The sad reality is that the girl will probably never be found and that means the case will remain unsolved. I wouldn't be surprised if we literally NEVER hear the end of it, and the McCann's keep appearing in the media, every few months or so, for ever more. They are bound to be knighted by the Queen in the next few years (this generally happens to the parents of a kid who is brutally murdered on the streets of London, for example, and the thing gets very big billing in the media). Also look out for programmes on TV like 'The McCann's - 10 years on', and so on. Look out for coverage of how the other McCann kids progress through life, like when they become teenagers, etc. I see little point in keeping this a huge media story when little is likely to come out of it, but that is bound to be what we are all in for.

I think people in general underestimate the amount of child abductions that happen globally every year, it's well into 200,000, albeit the majority of those are not from strangers but fathers and mothers who are separated but still. Human trafficking is BIG business and Madeline was lucky in one sense that she was appealing for the media to latch onto - white, blonde hair, blue eyes, middle class family, because otherwise she wouldn't even have been reported on after the first week.

It saddens me that so many posters on here are making light of the fact that an innocent little kid has gone missing - and taking the piss out of the McCann's - whether they're privileged toffs or not - is in very poor taste, IMO.
That they were out (with their 'swinger friends') (which is unsubstantiated and irrelevant to the inquiry) for the evening, a few hundred yards from their hotel room, is not in itself a capital crime. Yes, it can be argued that they were a little casual and off guard, in pleasant surroundings, but that doesn't make the McCanns murderers.
I agree that the pairs' demeanour is not always altogether agreeable - Jerry inparticular seems a little aloof and condescending - but again, just because he's not particularly my cup of tea doesn't make him a bad person per se.
Until such time as the McCanns are found guilty of anything more than neglect (and let he who has never been anything less than a 100% perfect parent cast the first stone) on the said evening, they should be treated with sympathy, compassion and every possible assistance.
As I stated previously, their anguish must be almost unbearable if, as I hope, they genuinely do not know what happened to their precious daughter.

It is obvious they dont know what happened to their daughter. It was inevitable that eventually someone would point the finger at them - that always happens after every other possibility has been exhausted. I've never understood why it has got as much coverage as it has, the parents have quite possibly become the most famous people EVER to become known as a result of something happening to someone close to them, and they will likely remain in the public eye for ever more as I said earlier. I sincerely hope they have never made any money out of their media appearances.

I see the vindictive Reggie Perrin is still busy with his smear campaign.

The swinger story came from an ex-policeman in Portugal called Jose Barra da Costa. He has never been able to provide any evidence or any source for his claim, and yet Reggie Perrin still repeats it as though it's a fact.

As for Jim Slip and his 48 questions, the Portuguese police have said in two official statements that they don't have any unanswered questions. The original interview of Kate McCann was a 'no comment' interview based on her lawyer's instructions to her at the time, but all questions were subsequently answered to the police's satisfaction.

The "flee the country" claim is another of Reggie Perrin's lies. The McCann's departure was notified to the Portuguese police who did not object to them leaving. They merely made arrangements with the police in Leicestershire to follow up any further enquiries with the McCanns on their behalf.
