Yep, NuLabour, (and most likely any other government too) are only interested in evidence which supports current policy.
The recent sackings and resignations from the Drugs Advisory Council, because the minister wanted the evidence to fit the policy, and the current 'man-made' global warming scam being exposed through the leaked e-mails, (change the 'evidence' to fit the desired result) show that.

In 'The Spy Who Came In From The Cold' Richard Burton's character - Leamas - is debating the whys and wherefores of espionage with an idealistic young British communist played by Claire Bloom. She tries to get Leamas to see things from a moralistic standpoint of 'right' and 'wrong' to which Leamas says 'The only law is expediency'.
I think what goes for espionage goes for politics - the only law is expediency, however people like Blair and Hoon don't have the balls to admit this and have to create a cover story.

"Can you believe this? It has got to be the most flimsy arguement EVER for a country invading another one. Over 100,000 Iraqi's killed, the middle-east de-stabilised, billions in British taxpayers money spent, many of our soldiers killed, Britain becoming more of a terrorist target, and ALL BECAUSE a cabbie in Iraq apparently overheard something being said in his taxi!"
You need to calm down Max. You forgot to mention that this story is only a claim, nothing more. An Iraqi military officer has previously come forward stating that he supplied the information himself, directly to MI6.

Robin Cook was a very fine man and politics here is the worst for his untimely death.Blair has been exposed as a money grabbing, snobbish, religeous fruitcake.I was so optimistic when he won in 1997 .He has a very good brain but put himself and his grubby wife first too often. In not sending Brown out to the long grass he has left us led by the most pointless PM for decades but then I remember the wanker that was Major.
It is a shame that politics in this country has failed to throw up someone like Cook as leader. He would have done a good job and would not have hesitated to say 'no' to the yanks unlike the sychophants in New Labour.
As it is our boys nd girls will continue to be brought home in coffins along the A34 for years to come over a pointless escapade in a shit hole called Afghanistn.
Saddam was a despot but IMHO he was an Arab problem. It was all about their oil and for Blair not to accept that, exposes the weasly god botherer for the cunt that he is.

None of the recent PM's have been any good, but then can anyone think of one leader we have ever had where people have been happy with that person and not felt they were let down once the person takes office? I fear Cameron will be just the same next year, him and his band of boating-at-the-Henley-Regatta-land-gentry-Etonians who will be leading the country. Politics is all about ego's and power trips and the good of the nation and the people comes second.

!cool!
It matters not one fucking iota. Blair was right in helping in getting rid of Saddam, whatever one may think of the oily posturing lying little bastard. I regret the loss of our servicemen in this episode, but, as someone who has served in various hotspots it can be looked on as superb training for the future.
Even in peacetime we lose men on exercise, so, to go into combat one accepts that there will be losses. If we can accept that then people should accept the fact that the bastard politicians also know this. Though their reasons are usually different than ours.

The 60,000+ innocent Iraqis who were killed during the war might take a different view of the "superb training" opportunity.
Like many British soldiers and their families, maybe if you had had your legs and bollocks blown off, you might have a different view as to whether the war was really justified in terms of defending British sovereignty.

Max Tranmere,
Tony Blair and evil ilk knew full well that Saddam, whom they murdered to silence him, did not have any WMD, I mean he did not even have an airforce or navy.
What I want to know is he going to stand trial for war crimes?
Mike Freeman.

One lives in hope.
Apparently a British court issued an arrest warrant for Israel's former foreign minister over war crimes allegedly committed in Gaza this year. The warrant was at the request of lawyers acting for some of the Palestinian victims. The former minister Tzipi Livni had been due to speak at a meeting in London on Sunday but cancelled her plans before entering the country.
As Blair's case continues to fall apart before his eyes, it would be wonderful if an arrest warrant could be issued in Britain on behalf of innocent Iraqi victims of what is widely regarded as an illegal war.
What really sickens is his role as Middle East envoy. Its a bit like giving Adolf Hitler the Nobel Peace Prize
