Yep, just keep believing the bits you want to, and ignoring anything you find inconvenient.
Keep that kettle boiling!

Well its a good excuse to raise more taxes, climate change will happen whatever we do so it is better to spend money in being prepared for it rather than wasting money in a vain attempt trying to stop it.

I think most experts conclude we cannot stop it. Their goal, I suppose, is to lessen the affects on coastal areas and wildlife (both we depend on greatly to survive).
I'm glad you think we should spend money 'preparing for it'. At least this view implies you agree it's happening, which is a start.

Yes the ice is melting but i doubt if there is anything we can do to stop it other than prepare for the effects of this, did you see the programme late last night on BBC2 about this, apparently during the cold war the Russians and us here in the West would have submarine patrols beneath the ice and the thickness of the ice back in the 1960s is well recorded because of this, back then the ice averaged twelve metres in depth as opposed to three metres on average today, so yes global warming is happening but forget trying to stop it just be ready for it, it has happened before but these days we have a better understanding of it, i hope !wink!

Doesn't apply to me though. I'm quite happy to listen to *all* the evidence and theories on the subject, both for and against. I'm quite willing to accept i'm wrong if/when overwhelming evidence proves that global warming is man made and not part of the natural cycle. Are you?
The fact you dismiss out of hand the evidence and theories put forward in the youtube clip based on the messenger being "a toff with no scientific background" really doesn't convince me you are willing to even hear anything that disagrees with what you have already decided is the absolute truth. And thats the trouble with religious types, you can't have reasonable debate with them.
You may believe because you want to believe, but thats never going to make it true.

Fucking hell Sam...do you really believe the 'leaders' at Copenhagen and their spongey hangers on have anything on their minds other than a bit of cheap publicity ,money if they are a poor country and a few cheap votes from from the tree huggers? You'll be telling me next that Brown is being earnest!. The more they tell me the world is coming to an end unless this and that the more it turns me right off and millions like me too I bet.
I dont give a shit if it gets a bit warmer and I don't give a shit if it means we lose a few species of animals or insects I've never heard about.
If people are that worried they can move.

That's all well and good but you can't be 100% agnostic all the time. I gave you mountains of evidence of general scientific consensus from many different, independent sources and you just came back with a silly retort about keeping kettles boiling....*yawn* That doesn't give me the impression you're taking my side of the debate seriously.
It seems that it's you who's closer to the religious nut-job who ignores what's staring at him in the face and tries to justify his credulity by bringing up philosophical claptrap and spurious 'facts'.

That's where you're wrong, Peter. After watching the clip I did a little search on Mr. Toff and found most climatologists dismissed him, saying he had no scientific background. He was an economics advisor at one time and that's about it. No reasonable person is going to question the overwhelming general opinion of the most knowledgeable people in their fields after a single youtube clip and hold it in equal weight. It seams you think that's being open minded, I think it credulous and probably dangerous.

Here's an article with a little info on how man-made global warming, and what the near future might hold. I doubt you deniers will read it, or if you do scoff at it, but here you go.
http://crooksandliars.com/nonny-mouse/c ... nge-idiots
and something on global dimming too, for all those of you (yes mrmcfister, I'm looking at you here) who thinks the UK being a few degrees warmer might not be such a bad thing: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/program ... rans.shtml. It seems while the UK is warmer than it was 50 years ago it's 16% less sunny.
