That not only is africa experiencing starvation and disease on a continental scale but the ignorance and apathy of those in the west is tanatamount to allowing it to happen therefore we are helping to sign their death sentences?

A bad choice of words but I don't think it's that offensive (though it's not the sort of language that's going to help in brokering any deals). A holocaust just means great destruction and death by fire. He might be more correct than he realises. Global warming will indeed lead to more common and larger fires in forested areas resulting in millions killed over the years. The death toll may well exceed anything The Holocaust amounted to.
