Hey Liz then that makes us all german on here.

I keep finding myself saying vas ist and shweinhund recently may have something to do with it.

Your comment re earlier:

The UK Govenment would do well to remember we are no longer a 'world power' and we have no business medling in other countries affairs.

Oh the UK government knows that where China is concerned for sure.

I seriously doubt the envoy sent in to help will see him as just another job because its not about meddling in their affairs more than it is to be seen to be doing something for the sake of appearing to do so.

It will probably fail but at least the british government can say "we tried"

Deep down they probably think the same as us.

Drug smuggling is a gamble. That man lost. Simple as.

This man may be ill, I don't know but isn't it a coincidence how many drug smugglers are ill, have been duped, conned and are all totally innocent of any wrong doing.
Just once I'd like to hear one say "it's a fair cop, I dunnit"

If he gets clemency for being bi polar the chinese will become the laughing stock of the orient.

I seriously doubt they will swallow this.

I bet he wasnt so bi polar when he agreed to go along with it though was he?

And mores to the point, what has that got to do with anything? Everyone is bi polar to a degree.

Agree Agree. Most anti-drug campaigns are so lame it makes me wonder if they're funded by the drug dealers. If they could connect the buying of illegal drugs with the sort of turds that mainly profit from it, they'd keep a lot more people off the stuff.

Currently, its cool and trendy (showing my age!) to be seen using stuff because the government tells you not to. To a young person with not much power or influence, using drugs is an ideal way of rebelling and showing how untamed and individual you are. But if drug use became more associated with images of violent thugs and weapons purchases, then the shine comes off.

It's no longer a big boast to have elephant's foot umbrella stands or stuffed gorillas around your mansion because society has connected that with the slaughter of endangered animals for very petty reasons. People now demand free-range eggs and cruelty free cosmetics etc because they don't like supporting cruelty. The same tactic might work with drug control.

Deano i think the major problem we have with drugs is that people who take them actually enjoy them. Thats when they become addictions.

Not that i have any experience but then thats why I never tried them because I know I would have enjoyed it so much I would want to do it all the time. I did a bit of weed when i first went to the Dam and thought "Whats the big fuckin deal???"

Its not far off from cigarettes or drinking coffee. Everybody on it thinks they are in control of themselves.

I feel very sorry for people with addictions as they dont know they have it until they have lost everything. Including what dignity they had left.

Never feel sorry for junkies its their loved ones you should save your thoughts for as being an addict is a breeze as you never care about anything but yourself.

Its everyone else (inc loved ones) who have to pick up the pieces and even then you wont find find anyone to help them but needless to say plenty of help for the addict which makes no difference apoart form make it easier for them to carry on by removing any consequences.

As China has taken all our jobs why not out source something that they can do better than us i.e deal with our scumbags.

Apparently his cousins have gone to China to plead for clemency, to have the death sentence commuted to life in prison.
Given China's human rights record I bet the poor bloke would be pleading to be executed after a couple of years in a Chinese jail.
They should careful what they wish for on his behalf.
