Gay rugby player comes out...
Gareth Thomas, the 35 year old former captain of Wales, has announced he is gay. This is all well and good and he said on the news that he feels liberated because now he is not hiding anything. He has known he is gay since he was a teenager but has hidden it until now. What I cant understand is that he was married from 2002 to 2006, to a girl who was his childhood sweetheart, and she was pregnant to him three times (but sadly lost the baby each time). I'm a totally straight guy but can someone explain to me how you can know you are gay, but date a woman for years and years, then marry her and try for a family, whilst all the time you don't like women? What is all that about?

Perhaps he changed his mind over the years and is at a stage now where he can be more honest about such things.I wish him well.

It's called trying to fight it. Yes, they know they are gay, but get married etc. to try and fight the fact that they are. How many gay people have actually got married, and had children? Look at all the celebrities that have done so, only to 'come out'.
That is why he is saying he now feels liberated is because he doesn't have to lie, fight or deny it anymore, either to himself or others.
If you claim to be gay how can you become sexually aroused with a woman.
Maybe because gays are conditioned by society from being young that women are 'arousing'? As a straight man you've not been pressured in the same way. Maybe he's bi with a preference for men? Who knows, the most important thing is that he's made a big step in controlling his own life now rather than being controlled by others' feelings/expectations.

What a load of bollocks. It's not much of a secret. Everyone in the game has known for ages.
