A "still" is the expression the troops use for Falkland Islanders who objected to being called Bennies after the Crossroads character. When ordered to stop they did but called them "stills" as they are still Bennies no matter what.

I couldn@t get the job I wanted when I first left the Army, as happens to many retired soldiers. I wouldn't take shit jobs as I am worth more than that. I wasn't out of work long and have been regularly employed since 1987 and am continuing because my present job is brilliant, well paid and with a very good company.

The only thing you are correct about is the fighting qualities of the Argies.
All armies get a twatting when engaged in hostilities and the British forces were twatted but they twatted the Argies harder. That's why they lost more soldiers airmen and sailors than we did. Only one Harrier was shot down. The Argies lost, I dunno, 30 something I think, and most pilots were killed with their planes, not many banged out.
Don't blame the qualities of the forces being sent to the bottom of the globe to fight with inadequate equipment. Thatcher is the bastard who started it all off by not kicking arse in South Georgi when she could have. Instead she sent 274 service men to their deaths to keep her shitbag self in office.

It was a nasty campaign.
But, the terrain to the Paras and the booties was just like the Brecon Beacons and Dartmoor in winter. So, the best fighters were at home so to speak.
