'Suede' to reform - minus Bernard Butler...
Yet another Britpop band to reform, although this one will not have one of its key members therefore them reforming is largely pointless. Frontman Brett Anderson and guitarist Bernard Butler formed a band called The Tears in the early-2000's, and as that band comprised the two Suede frontman, and the 'Suede' that are about to reform only includes one of them, then The Tears were more Suede than the 'Suede' who are about to reform will be. Blur reformed, Jarvis Cocker is seen a bit more now, a number of 80's bands are back. Now we have three of the original members of Suede back as 'Suede'. Was anyone on here a fan of theirs back in the 1990's, and are you glad to see three of the band back?

Not really needed, but it's only for a charity one-off, and it's the Suede from 'Coming Up' onwards, with Richard Oakes on guitar.
Butler quit after their second and best album, 'Dog Man Star'. The albums went patchy after that, but still had highlights - 'Trash' & 'Picnic by the Motorway' to name two.
Never quite one of the greats, but still far better than many.

That is him, yes. He has been able to sustain a career in music since leaving Suede in 1994, both as a producer and a solo artist. It is interesting that he and Brett Anderson made up and formed a new band, The Tears, a few years ago but he has no interest in reforming Suede now. I know he had an issue with Anderson and that was one of the reasons he quit during the recording of Suede's second album, but I dont think he had an issue with the other two members of the band.
There is an interesting book about Britpop called 'The Last Party' which I have read and at one point in the book it details Butler leaving Suede. He didnt get on with Brett Anderson anymore and he could no longer work with the producer who was producing that second album, Dog Man Star. Butler walked out during the final weeks of the recording process and then returned to the studio to try and retrieve his guitar. After having had a heated discussion with Anderson on the phone a few times, where Butler repeating called Anderson a "c**t", he stood outside the studio ringing the buzzer to try to get them to open the door so he could get his guitar back. Eventually the door opened, he was given it, and the door was then shut, without a word being exchanged.
Dog Man Star is a good album but not as good as their first one. Butler plays on all but one track I think. Q Magazine described it as "Suede's divorce album" when it came out.
