The Second Coming of Christ...

I remember being told at school many times through out the 1970's and 80's that when the Second Coming comes we will ALL know. I, and many other kids, asked how we would know. You will just KNOW, they said. Interesting...

The nation would have been a lot more god and church orientated years before so people who were kids the generation before me, and in previous era's to that, would have had this said to them even more than kids of my generation did.

We have been waiting for nearly 2,000 years now. Still no sign!

I recall reading once about a woman in London in the 1800's who became very famous by telling people she would be giving birth to the second Christ sometime during her life, but (surprise, surpise!) she didn't! Apparently when she died more than 100,000 of her gullible followers attended her funeral.

Isn't it about time we moved on from this, forgot about it and viewed it all as a load of nonsense. I imagine they still tell kids this now in schools. A relative of mine became very religious for a while following a bad event that had occured. This person used to go on about stuff like this all the time. When things improved for that person and they moved on from being religious, stopped talking about it, and stopped attending church, I asked "How comes you don't believe in all that anymore?" The reply was "well, it's all a load of bollocks isnt it!"

I rest my case.

I think its a metaphor that has menaing to those who may derive meaning from it.

So the second coming could be one of the following:

Barack Obama being the first black president
James "Leave The Camera On" Cameron (just chucked that in because Avatar has made ridiculous amounts of money and he is probably being feted like a god right now anyway.

Bill Gates to whom all this internet, freebies, porn, movies and music for free may not have been possible

Or for you lot....Pussy. Lets face it most of you are on your knees either lapping at it and cracking one out you might as well be praying.

Religion is a way of life so it depends on what you see as important.

It amazes me how a political subversive has become the icon to an age old religion and even more so how people in the west have adopted it considering he is from the middle east.

oej, those examples could be seen by those who believe as god meddling in things in a positive way. People who believe in all that often say 'thank you god' and look up when something wonderful occurs. In terms of the dood with the beard and sandals showing up again and making everything ok, the dood who would have J CHRIST as the name on his passport, actually, physically and literally being born again on the earth, there are those who are still waiting for that to happen. They have been waiting a long time, and people in the future who will also believe in all this will wait and wait and wait aswell.

ph, I broadly agree with that. I also think that religion being incorporated into how countries are run, by governments, is very wrong too.
