Dover To Be Sold To The French

Post by planeterotica »

Looks like Gordon Brown is selling off the family silver to help pay off the debt he has burdened this country with, if you want to save Britain dont vote labour

Yes but what about the Dartford Crossing i own that as i have crossed it so many times i think i must have paid for it out of my own pocket, it was going to be toll free once it was paid for and that happened years ago and now Bottler wants to privatise it which would only mean one thing, higher tolls !sad!

Interesting that you use the phrase "selling off the family silver"

This was the phrase used by Harold MacMillan, Tory Prime Minister in the late 50s and early 60s to describe Thatcher's policy of flogging off all the national assets e.g. the utilities to all and sundry.

Brown has a long, long way to go before he gets anywhere near the Conservative record on privatisation.

"Mrs Thatcher's policy was one which was so popular she got re-elected twice. If we are not prepared to take responsibility for electing politicians (and therefore their actions), why have elections?"

Thatcher wasnt elected by me, Spudfacednipper. Perhaps this is a more suitable question for Planeterotica, allowing him to explain what is wonderful about selling off the family silver under a Conservative government but disgraceful to do the same thing under a Labour government.
