Crap Pubs

About five pubs a week are closing in Britain and thank fuck say I.

Disinterested landlord/staff
Dirty floors and tables
Sticky carpets
Benefit spongers sitting in the corner looking angry
Stinking entrances with fag butts in the rain
Crappy bogs with no soap,toilet paper,hand dryers
Crappy beer,poorly kept and too expensive
Brought in cryo vac food served up on cold plates and too expensive
Diet coke served up without ice or lemon and probably both
Dingey car parks
Decorations from the 1980's
Crap wine selection
Probably more...

Meanwhile places that get it right make a very good living for their owners and good luck to them.I shed no tears for crappy dives...

There are not many pubs left these days most of them are just non-atmosphere eating houses where you can also get a drink, bring back the old spit and sawdust pubs, but of course you cannot because of the hygiene rules !sad!

ah the mis-spent fun of my youth !grin! - going down the rub a dub with my mates on a saturday night , normally some dark and sombre little old fashioned dive by the side of the thames - some ol doris tinkling away on the joanna in the corner - the only games being pool if it was a large pub or flicking bar mats if it wasn't - being pestered by grandad in the corner for another 'arf o stout' or he would tell us again how he single handedly won world war one.!laugh! and more fag ash on the floor than was in the ashtray's (if they had any) - Total bliss.

Now its all themed mini restaurants like 'weatherspoons' or 'yate's..... no atmosphere at all unless your 18 to 25 and like that kind of music - so loud you cant actually hear the girl tell you you've pulled or not...

Night buses home!!! if we didn't pull some bit of ready totty , it was a fucking long walk home

Pubs are closing because too many are in the hands of the wrong people. The brewers are nailing the tenants to the fucking floor as they can only purchase from the brewery that the owner has tied the tenant to. Too many "Entrepanhoors (I Know it's spelt wrong, fer a fuckin reason) own too many pubs. My cousin has just gone into partnership in a free house. He can make a profit and give a good service. He knows exactly what this pub turns over and has done for the past 15 years as he has carried out the stockchecks there, that is his profession. Weatherspoons prices are I think a true price. I see no reason to pay over ?3 a pint of some crap piss when for between ?1-80 and ?2-80 I can get a good real ale. My local corner pub is a real ale pub and a good well looked after pint costs ?2-60 to ?2-80 depending on the AVB. Fuck the hoors who own the pubs, and fuck the breweries.

The pub which is round the corner to where I live I wish would shut down.

Years ago it was somthing worth going to,it had a mini zoo in the garden which included two bears...yes 2 bears !!
The main shell of the building is listed and has stood for at least 100 years.
It used to be a coach house for stage coaches I think.
And in years gone by farmers would heard livestock to market and stop there to have a drink on the way.

Over the years its had its fair share of trouble/fights etc....
The piano that used to be in the public bar got nicked while the pub was open but nobody saw a thing !
Oh and a gambling machine got nicked from the saloon bar on a sunday while the pub was open...once again nobody saw a thing !

And the place got done right over by blokes with axes and shooters and was closed down for ages before being re-fitted.

It used to be a charringtons pub and over the years they have tried to build on the two feilds around the pub.And all the owners since have tried it on.
It always gets turnned down as they cant alter the main building cause its listed and cause the land is green belt.

But I now hear the new owners have won the first stage of a court case to try and build on it.

Problem is where I live, in the distant North where beer is drinkable and has a head on it the good pubs are shutting and the shit ones going from strength to strength. The chav friendly lager lounges are doing a roaring trade even though they sell nothing but fizzy lager and can't keep a pint of Guinness to save themselves. As for selling food that is here to stay.

I do as well old boy. I get mine squeezed in the Brighton Masonic Centre bar which gives excellent service consistently with very friendly permanent staff. A London Masonic Centre I attend I think is awful and is much the same as overpriced pubs with with so so beer and staff turnover the highest I have ever seen.
