"Mutiny on the Buses" about to start ITV1 12.10!

Post by jimslip »

Yes today you can annoy your family, wives and girlfriends with a good helping of British TV at it's best! Yesterday, it was "Sink The Bismarck" and today it's "Mutiny on the Buses!"

Mr. Slip - it's SUPPOSED to be shit. If you feel like a failure, these movies remind you that someone else is worse than you.

I saw this. Some films you watch transfixed by their sheer artistry. Others you watch transfixed by their sheer awfulness.

Have a guess...

A hugely popular tv show in its day but I never realised that the final shows were getting so bad Reg Varney left the show , these ones never seem to get rerun even though the early episodes in black and white are constantly rerun.

are best never revisited

The doctor(at large,at sea etc)series was another similar one which was flogged to death

Comparing fodder/filler like this to classics like steptoe and son epsiodes or films puts it in perspective

Oh I don't know. As a snapshot of a bygone era it has it's moments, albeit somewhat cheesy.

I haven't seen any of the O.T.B. movies in years, but IIRC there was no real attempt at continuity with the TV series (like Olive having kids in the films, but none in the series) and the bus company was called something else entirely.

One major flaw though was Reg Varney (in his mid 50s at the time, and looking every day of it) playing a character who was only supposed to be about 30 and still living at home with his mum.
