Benitez - how much longer
How much longer can Rafa keep hold of his ?80k a week job producing the worst Liverpool team in living memory?
Re: Benitez - how much longer
Does someone press a special button in the middle of the night that pushes Liverpool up the table when no one is looking??? How can a side that never seem win be still be in conention for fourth place?? It will be criminal if they grab that fourth place!

At this rate, until Hicks and co. have the dosh to make him redundant.
Re: Benitez - how much longer
Listening to TalkSport today and they were discussing Liverpool, and one person in the studio said "well he is obviously a great manager...."
And then I began to think, well is he ?
They won the Champions League in 2005 after being 3-0 down. He picked Kewell much to everyones surpise, and was lucky he went off injured after 23 minutes. Their win in this match was more to do with Gerrard than Benitz. And they only won on penalties.
They won the FA Cup in 2006 after being 0-2 down and 2-3 down to WHU, and a last minute goal from Gerrard took it to extra time when they again won on penalties.
They have won nothing since (apart from Super Cup and Community Shield), and not won the Premier League or Carling Cup under Benitez.
Have they EVER made a sustained challenge for the Premier League under Benitez?
I know they have finished second last year (and only lost 2 matches), and qualify for Champions League most years, but have they REALLY looked like winning the league under Benitez?
And now he has left himself with only one real striker (Torres), paid 17million for a right back (Johnson), and relies almost totally on Gerrard getting them out of trouble.
And some of his purchases defy belief.
I am surprised he has stayed there so long.

Just to add to that: he won the Champions League with Houllier's team.
Liverpool were close to winning the title last year, but all they are are a hard-working, physical team, like Chelsea, and painful on the eye. They're a very expensive long ball side.

Personally I cant see Liverpool winning another EPL until Ferguson is gone from Man U and the free spending with no limits is never allowed to rear its ugly head again...AS IF
If they dont qualify for the Champions league this year bye bye Rafa
If Tottenham,Aston Villa or Man City allow them to get that 4th spot
that will just reinforce my opinion of those clubs as perennial underachievers

Mind you, the fact that Liverpool, one of the "BIG FOUR", have NEVER won the Premier League makes them somewhat underachievers.
Note the other 3 in the BIG FOUR have all won the Premier League (Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal)

Re: Benitez - how much longer
Regarding Guilbert's comment about the Big Four, while it's true we have yet to win the title under its guise as the Premier League - so according to Sky, everything before 1992 doesn't count - we are co-equal in the number of top flight crowns with 18 - that's more than Arsenal and Chelsea combined in their history, BTW.
Also neither the Gunners or Blues have ever won the European Cup in their history.
Liverpool have. FIVE times.
So don't make me more pissed off about non-Liverpool fans having digs at our great club. Yes, we're having a shite season, no doubt, but then Arsenal must have had several since 2005 since that was the year they last collected any silverware. That's 12 months before Liverpool, BTW.
At the end of the storm there's a golden sky...
