Legal high's....

Very sad about those two teenagers dying this week from taking the legal high that is the 'meow drug'. Many are saying today that it should be banned, but surely banning something makes it no less available it just pushes it underground. Every drug that is illegal is still easily obtainable. What do people think about the possible banning of 'legal highs', and will it make people stop taking them if they become illegal? I can't see how it would.

It worked with heroin and cocaine, drug users are law abiding and would never dream of using an illegal drug.

I always remember the rockstar Keith Richards claiming that in heroin there is the cure for the common cold (something that no Doctor, researcher or professor has yet found). He said he had colds like anyone else previously but the 10 years he was on heroin he never once had a cold. When he gave it up he started getting colds again.

On the issue of the legal high's, if you make any drug illegal people will still get it. It will just mean gangsters making money and more turf wars but the amount of consumers will not decrease. You have to educate people to make them not take things, point out to people that it really does have negative, even fatal, effects - and also tell people not to bow to peer pressure in order to 'fit in'.
