A big reason for this is, it's very fucking profitable. While it's kind of asinine to play the moral highlander when you're born and raised in western affluence, surely no one can think it's a very big leap of depravity when you think of the choices? That's why the place is the piracy mecca of the world. You can rob a boat or two, or then you can experience the subtle nuances of extreme poverty, that's how it is to most to them. Now, perhaps that doesn't mean it's right or that military intervention isn't required from people that are quite frankly pissed off at this, but surely it kind of says that dumbfuck ideas to breed more pirates through even more economic hardship to the country isn't very wise.
