Where did I say anything about liking any other party? I just hate this one and can't wait to see their demise. I am sure you will issue dire warnings on the outcome of having anyone else in power, apart from this bunch of lousy shits, but frankly I don't give a damn, I just can't wait for election night with a glass of bubbly and watch them losing seats by the hundred (Hopefully)

So, I say, unleash the "Hounds of Hell!" ie millions of Gillian Duffys on the warpath, I wouldn't like to be in their way!

P.S. David, can you explain, your slavish desire to be ruled over by Scots, they have an instinctive hatred for us English going back centuries, which can't be healthy. Surely if nothing else it would be a good idea to boot out Brown and all the other Scots in the Labour Party and sling them back where they belong?

"Where did I say anything about liking any other party?"

I said in my message "However, the Tory Toffs who you seem to prefer (not necessarily like) to Labour have made no commitment to scrap tuition fees."

in response to your statement in another thread
"I'd rather have Tory toffs than this lot of hypocrites anyday."

I assume you would rather not jump out of the frying pan into the fire? Hence my comments about what the other parties are planning to do.

"P.S. David, can you explain, your slavish desire to be ruled over by Scots, they have an instinctive hatred for us English going back centuries, which can't be healthy. Err. Not sure where to start here. Given I havent voted for the Labour party in any election since 2001, hardly slavish! As for the nationality stuff, couldnt really care less. You said you were going to vote Cleggie. I trust you realise that Clegg's paternal grandmother, Kira von Engelhardt, was a Russian Baroness whose family fled from the Bolsheviks after the revolution. Clegg's Dutch mother is called Hermance van den Wall Bake. Clegg's lineage has been traced back to Johann V, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg. And he's married to a damn Spaniard!

Personally I think Cleggie should reveal his real name, Nicholas Clegg-Van den Wall Bake, Count of Nassau-Dillenburg.

Now there is a good, ole English name, James! Vote Cleggie for free tuition fees for White Russians, Spaniards and Dutch, but not for a number of years for the English who wont have any places available in college anyway.

And it will be all your fault!!!

I think the EU needs to have some debate as to whether there should be limits placed on numbers moving between countries to settle to try and reduce the strain placed on services.

Trouble is - the EU guarantees freedom of movement so they cannot put a measure such as you suggest into practice.

Correct, that is the current position. But that isnt to mean that constitutions, laws etc never change.

In fact he does look like this if you look closely!

Blimey,

That's an uncanny likeness! The only difference is the Blessed Cleggie has removed his moustache, had his haircut and given that very expensive, slightly pulled through a hedge backwards look.

Apart from that they could be twins!

D

PS. You know Cleggie's dad is a financier, don't you? Yeah, Chairman of a Bank specialising in funding property developers. What a good solid member of the working class (to use one of your phrases) Cleggie is! I think it was Ken Clark who said Cleggie was a "Tory who had lost his way".
I kinda know what he means!

It's common knowledge about Clegg's background, big difference he's not pretending to be a Socialist.

To remind yourself what a true Socialist is like you can't get a bigger Toff than Beveridge but look what he did:

I hardly think Beveridge was a toff. He was the son of a civil servant and became a lawyer. This Baron bit came as a result of his political career, not before!

I am not actually suggesting that it is impossible for a public school educated son of a financier to be a damn good, fair-minded politician.
What I am suggesting is that unlike Cameron and Brown, Cleggie has had virtually no in-depth perusal of his background, track record as MEP, etc etc.

I disagree with you when you say it is common knowledge. I have yet to hear his background, time as an MEP mentioned on any tv program whereas I have heard ad nauseum about Cameron and Osborne.

So whereas Cameron has been hammered non-stop for his aristocratic, public school background for many years, there has barely been mention of Cleggie's background, track record etc etc.

The reason for this is very straight-forward. Prior to the first TV debate, many voters didnt know who he was and those voters who did know who he was, probably thought that the Lib Dems would have no chance of getting anywhere anyway. So in comparison, Cleggie was largely unknown and unreported.

Yeah, lets boot out anyone of a certain nationality based on a generalisation. A silly argument, Jim.

Clegg's background is hardly in Cameron's class:

And anyway, being a 'Toff', to me, is based more on your philosophy than your genes. You wouldn't call Tony Benn a toff because he was born a viscount, would you?
