Nobel prizing winning economist, Paul Krugman, complimented Gordon Brown on potentially saving the world financial system.

and the Economics correspondent in the Tory Times backs him for a Nobel prize.

I agree. When it comes to the economy I think Brown is the guy I trust the most. I'm not just voting on that, though.
I mentioned this nearly a year ago: .

Kaletsky wrote that piece in February 2009 before the worse of the recession and also when The Times still supported Labour. The paper did not back Cameron until this week, the first change since 1992.
And the article about the guy praising Gormless is even older.

Krugman was still praising GB in June: . That was 6 months into the recession.

It begins: "Nobel prize-winning economist Paul Krugman has today rode to the defence of Gordon Brown by suggesting that the UK economy is the best placed for recovery in Europe."
Yes but as we have seen he was totally wrong. Britain was the last of the G8 nations to come out of recession and then only feebly. No other European nation or probably world nation has a national debt of ?1.3trillion and that does not include PFI projects or public sector pensions which by some estimates raises the national debt to ?3trillion.
Who promised no more boom and bust? Gordon Brown
And when he was caught out, who lied about it and claimed that he had said no more Tory boom and bust? Gordon Brown again
The man is a disaster.

Re: Gordon Brown saves the world financial system?
So you know more about economics than Paul Krugman?
And, yes, we've come out of recession last but you failed to mention that our unemployment rates didn't go as high as other G8 economies like the US, France, Canada and Russia, and didn't go above the EU average.
Then there's the matter of having an economy with such a powerful financial sector, started by Thatcher. No one cared about the deregulation when times were good and if Labour had started to regulate the banks much more people would have gone ape-shit, screaming Labour were secretly commies and that they were throttling the banks and making it hard for businesses to grow/people to buy homes etc etc....

Re: Gordon Brown saves the world financial system?
He wasn't wrong at all. There were predictions of unemployment on the UK that were way ahead of what we actually have now, and the reason our recession has not been as bad as some were predicting, or as bad as most other nations, is because Gordon Brown injected money into the economy. All of the measures he took were voted against by the Tories, who would have done their usual thing of sitting back and letting the country take the full force of it.

This is ill-informed nonsense. National debt is irrelevant without comparing it to GDP. ?1trillion debt for the US would not be as serious obviously as say, ?1trillion debt for Ireland.
The figures from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) compare public debt to GDP and by that measure Japan, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Iceland, France, Germany, Portugal, Hungary and Canada are all in a worse situation than the UK.
You imply that Britain has done worse than many European countries. This is too is nonsense.
Germany, for example, is looking towards a double-dip recession.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/econ ... ssion.html
As for other EU countries - Greece, in complete turmoil, Portugal and Spain, credit down rated, Spain unemployment at 20% etc etc etc.

Anybody who trusts Broon with the economy should book into a rest home and get their brains unscrambled.
That one eyed fucking miserable two faced bastard ruined our pensions. Pensions that I have been paying into ever since I left the Army in the mid eighties. I'm lucky I suppose in that I have 3 pensions from the MoD and companies I have worked for. Some aint that lucky and are unluckier because the money that the jock bastard took out of the pension funds has not gone to make a better Britain. Far fucking from it. Waste on a grand scale has happened and supporting illegals with benefits is just one of the ways. No wonder people are now at the end of their tether.
Fuck Broon and all of his rotten fucking cohorts. They deserve a fucking great boot up their collective arses, and that includes all those bitches such as Harman et al.
