First aiders?

Just a quick question.

Do supermarkets have to by law provide first aiders?

Ill tell you why i ask, i was in Asda yesterday and had an accident (my fault) but needed a first aider after 20 minutes no one came so i went to customer services who called for a manager who told me sorry there is not one in the store he has gone home, when i said are you not breaking health and safety she told me no its not law to provide one.

In summary, they are off the hook. There is talk of a "moral duty" within the above link, but we're talking about Asda Wal-Mart here.....

I've done many "medical aid" courses and every time I do a refresher, something changes. Many years ago I was told to walk by anybody lying injured/unconscious, or whatever as I could be sued if I did something wrong since I was deemed to be medically trained. I think this has changed, but now, if I see a woman lying in the street and I can't detect a pulse, I can rip off her shirt, remove her bra and start CPR. I'm just waiting for my chance.

Apparently if I start chest compressions and the woman (or man for the pc brigade) has an underwired bra, there is the possibility that one of the wires could pierce her chest. Hence you must remove the bra.
I now carry a card which refers to the last medical aid course I was on, which should help my case when it comes up next month.
