When I was in the slammer(first early days )it was a pot, the size of which, you would now boil your spuds in.
Actually, I was once told that 'commode' was a derivative of "accomodation"! Supposedly meaning that even filthy convicts have to relieve themselves somewhere.

Yep! It was three to a cell until mid 80`s/early 90`s (these are victorian cells originaly designed for one prisoner but now stuffed with three men). Thats all behind me. Those teenage years spent at HMs pleasure.
