ALL of these arguments are CLEARLY just as relevant for arguing in favour of a coalition with the BNP if they get 306 seats as they are with any other party including the Cons.
Yes, they are..........if you're a fascist. Again, given your blinkered view on all this I must assume that since you'd at least tolerate a majority Conservative government, and have done on more than one occasion in the past, you'd also tolerate a majority BNP government?
You don't think so because you dislike the BNP even more than your "professed" hatred for the Tories which given the nature of the coalition with the great majority of Tory policies unchanged, I must say I am beginning to doubt.
Lol. Of course. I'm open-minded enough to give diplomacy and compromise a chance with the Tories so I must be a closet Tory. But if I was a secret Tory I must also be in the same boat......ie, a closet Liberal for tolerating my party working alongside the Lib Dems. Like I've said before, you don't have to like the coalition, but that doesn't make it wrong.
I wondered if you had any political scruples whatsoever. You appear to have some.
So I'm not amoral just because I don't agree with your blinkered views? Oh, thank you, David! *sobs with relief*
Try to follow on with your logic about propping up the BNP and answer my question about a BNP majority, would you old boy? I do think it's as relevant a question as yours.
Cheers.

Re: Lib Dem opposition to coalition
I would despise a BNP government. I despised Tory governments. I despise the Lib Dem Con coalition. I haven't got a Richter scale equivalent for loathing.
As I said it all depends on where you are prepared to draw the line. You tolerate a Lib Dem Con coalition where all the key decisions in terms of handling the deficit, foreign policy, immigration, defence are Tory driven whilst professing a loathing for the Tory party.
I do not.
No more to be said, methinks!

Not very tolerant, are you? It's either your way or the highway, eh? It wasn't answering my question in the context it was asked but I'll let you off the hook as you've clearly dug yourself a hole you can't climb out of here. I'm offering you a ladder, so to speak.
As I said it all depends on where you are prepared to draw the line.
Yes. Yes you did, and that's why I was confused about your logic that my defence of a Con/Lib coalition meant that defence was equally relevant in the case of a BNP/Lib coalition. As you can see, that defence, when it came to the BNP, wasn't relevant at all because we all DO have a line we won't cross. And, some lines can change depending on the circumstances while some are immovable. You just happen to be a bit more of a fundamentalist than I am, that's all.
Now, there's nothing more to say, methinks!

Obviously not.... It is about policies. As I have previously stated I would have preferred a Labour government but a Lib Dem/Labour centre left coalition would have been acceptable given the policies have much in common.
I will leave you to carry on your lonely, defence of the Lib Dem Con coalition. At least you have wholeheartedly convinced yourself, if apparently no-one else on the forum.

Sometimes I've been the lone figure on the forum that's stood up to the BNP sympathisers. I wouldn't sit too comfortably just because you're in the majority!
Thanking me for providing you with that ladder would have been nice. You'd have never gotten out of that hole you know !wink!

I haven't got a clue what you are on about. And to be honest, I can't be arsed to find out.

Re: Lib Dem opposition to coalition
I saw Nigel Farage, the UKIP leader on TV today and he claimed that had his party not have stood candidates in certain areas then the Tories would have won the Election out right. He says he only stood them because of Cameron's refusal to say he would have a Referendum on Europe if he won this Election. I think Farage may have been talking up UKIP's significance a bit but what he said may have been true.

Self-deception is a common defence mechanism.

Homilies
Sam Slater quote
"Self-deception is a common defence mechanism."
Err, thank you, vicar
I will add this one to my morning prayers and contemplations along with "a stitch in time saves nine", "necessity is the mother of invention" , "definite positives can exceed suspected negatives" and last, but by no means least, "educate yourself and understand; be willing to understand and you might educate yourself. You see, there's something in it for you too!"
Tell me, did you just wake up one morning and find that you were speaking in riddles? Or have you always been like this?
Please put me down for a copy of the Vicar Slater Little Book of Homilies. You know, the one with the yellow and blue cover. !happy!

I see they're proposing to buy Campbell's silence by getting him the Speaker's job at the expense of Bercow.
