Sentencing the pair, who were caught after signing their names in the visitors' book, Austin Molloy, chairman of the bench, said: "Normal people would consider you absolute scum."

Mr Molloy said his fellow magistrates agreed with him but a court clerk objected to the language, claiming it was "inappropriate".


The judge was right. Normal people would consider them scum but coming from a judge maybe they were right. he should have chosen his words more wiseley because he is a judge and must be seen to be distanced from this sort of thing and not become like the very scum he is judging.

I dunno. I have no problems with telling it like it is but then I can get away with saying things like that because I m a pornogrpaher and probably scum anyway to the likes of an appointed judge.

Those lads were well out of order doing what they did though.

Yeah i see your point Rodders. But unfortunately in a democracy there is a proper way of doing things versus anarchy and I think where the judge is concerned thats central to the issue here.

A lot of the times it is frustrating but thats the price we pay for democracy.

As long as it lives and breathes and shows intelligence or proof of life then it has rights.

This magistrate isn't there to decide who's 'scum' and who isn't. And his excuse that 'normal people' would use that term is bollocks as well. Has he done thorough surveys on what 'normal people' think about people who commit such crimes as racist vandalism?

Call me a do-gooder if you want, but I'm sure if some pornographer came on here telling a story about being caught shooting a porn scene in some public place and went on to say the magistrate called him, and the performers, 'absolute scum', or 'immoral, disease-ridden whores' then you'd be no doubt outraged. In that instance who'd be the do-gooder?

It was inappropriate, without a doubt.

Personally, I don't have any problem with the magistrate stating that they were "absolute scum".

The mother of one of them who complained might be better off if she concentrated on providing some parental guidance to her son to try and prevent him turning into a complete tosser, ending up in jail.

"Now look here young chaps, writing racist and sexually offensive graffiti in prayer books and damaging religious symbols is just not on. It's not nice at all, you know".

Magistrates and Judges should be able to express their feelings to arseholes without some fucking PC splitarse saying they shouldn't.
I still say sack the bitch and while we're at it get those two little bastards bent over a bench and flay their fucking arses off.
Several years ago I was on the Isle of Man and three drunken Glaswegians smashed up a pub one afternoon, ( All day opening in them days before here) the Gendarmes collared the bastards and put em straight infront of a Magistrate and he sentenced em to 6 strokes of the birch and the next ferry out. All in two hours. Fucking great.
The bastards never went back. Well, they couldn't really as they were banned for life as well.
Life may not be idylic on the IoM but they know how to treat "scum"

I expected better from you, David. Like I've pointed out, do you think it's ok for you and a few models to be called 'absolute scum' or 'diseased whores' if you got caught doing a naughty shoot where you shouldn't?

These kids were caught vandalising things and a little racist graffiti. Not nice things, admitted, but to call someone 'scum' implies they are less than human. That, coming from someone with the authority and responsibility of a magistrate is wrong. What they did was distasteful not demonic; no babies were tortured or anyone executed.
