Lost

Post by nasty »

Anyone watch the Lost finale, satisfied, dissatisfied?

I quite liked it and think that's it's better that everything wasn't explained.

Loved Lost which is why i was disappointed by the end.

It tried to tie up all the shows complexities with its slow motion, heart tugging emotional moment to a piano score that always gets you a bit tearful then it come up with a cop out ending I figured before the end of the first episode.

Could have been told in 3 seasons at best.

The most fulfilling season finale ever was season 7 of The Shield. I came away from that dazed...and season 5 of The Wire.

I feel I've been had over with the finale for all its hype I expected something more than that.

I agree I dont think it had to answer everything but the most obvious thing that pissed me off was they had Walts dog there at the end but no Walt or his dad...Bullshit.

Or that old inter racial couple. I should pull the race card on their ass for not including them in the emotional line up at the end but they had the dog though. What are the writers trying to say? I can see some mileage in that with comedians. Just wait!

"Anybody seen Lost? great show right?...But they hate n******!"

Anyway

After all that it could have been done as a two hour feature movie and Lost has proved its an example of a series that was stretched out more than it should have been with an ending like that.

Disappointing to say the least.

It had its great moments though and generally I enjoyed the show but I knew in season one they were dead. Putting in a future that could have been was stretching the franchise out.

It was stupid. Leaving a 2 hour film open-ended is fine, but not a 6 year, 120 episode series.

If they were all dead and meeting at the end why wasn't Michael there?; where was Michael's son, Walt? Where was Eko? What happened to that couple that got buried alive on the beach? If all those on the island were dead somehow, why/how did Penny find Desmond on the island? Why was her father interested in a load of dead people on an island that didn't exist when he was dead himself? How could someone be killed by an explosion, by drowning, or falling off a cliff if they were already dead? How come they all forgot who they were off the island and had to be reminded since they all got to know eachother while being dead.....and were still dead while not on the island? What was the Darma Initiative?

Too many questions unanswered for me.

I think the island part was real and there weren't dead since the plane crash, Jacob made them crash on the island to find someone to take over from him. The only time they were in purgatory was in this year's alternate reality. Jack's dad said some died before and some long after and Hurley and Ben congratulated each other on being good number 1s and 2s so that says they lived on past Jack and did have stewardship of the still mysterious island.

This is totally off the top of my head, but they said Walt was special earlier, so maybe he took over from Hurley and wasn't dead yet in the future time purgatory. And as for the other missing people, maybe they didn't want to hang out with this bunch of people for the rest of their dead lives. Eko probably passed over with his brother.

I think some plot holes developed when more seasons of the show were ordered than originally thought and some things were added as filler that they could never explain. I was left a bit confused at the end, but the show has always done that for me and I'm glad it didn't spoon feed everything at the end, because if it did, people would be moaning that the explanations were lame, our imaginations would create better scenarios and couldn't compare if they laid it out.

Speaking of the Shield, that kind of confused me too. Terry, do you think Vic became some kind of vigilante when he took out his massive hand cannon at the end?

Interesting. I never saw it that way. I thought Vic came across as a lion in a cage that had to be out there hunting his prey but when he went for his gun he felt impotent.

He was busted down from a soldier to a desk jockey. In a way that is worse than prison for Vic. If he went to prison at least he would be at home and get the opportunity to crack heads inside.

Nose deep in paperwork wearing a suit is like hell to him. No one won that and what became clear to me about The Shield is that it became about the rise and fall of friendships

What Shane did to Lem was unforgivable but isnt it great writing how you became sympathetic to the poor bastard in the final episode?

In a way,Vic got lightly and was a very likable asshole with an agenda

Loving 24 at the minute.

I want Jack to hurt Charles Logan bad.

Man that guy is such a sneaky limp dick it annoys me, Ha ha. Love the actor for making me feel that way. Mark of a good actor.

I bet 24 has a real satisfactory ending though. That season rocks every time!

Terry did you ACTUALLY watch Lost??!shrug!

The "old interracial couple" or Rose & Bernard to me (and most Lost fans) ... were there in the church - watch the ending again Sir.
Mr. Eko was supposed to make a cameo appearance but he demanded too much money and didn't make the final cut and Michael never made purgatory because he was a bad mother fucker ...!blackeye!

Also not sure how you figured the ending out at the end of the first episode - if so what was your interpretation of the ending???

I was quite happy with the ending as basically I had made my peace with the show and accepted (after "Across The Sea" episode Jack v MIB) that we were not really going to get too many answers about the mysteries that had played out beforehand because essentially that was not what the show was about. I have to admit to crying quite a few times during the finale though.!baby!

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
