While many lads did paper rounds as a kid I used to work for some Gypsies for pocket money. Mainly going around Lincolnshire bailing hay for falmers and stuff. Fucking hard work when you're 12 and my parents would have killed me if they found out! I used to get a fiver a day during the late summer and they never did me once.

Many were thieving cunts though so maybe I was just lucky...........or they're like everyone else where you get both cunts and honest ones.

I'll agree with you for the most part, but whenever the gypsies appear the police and everyone else start to get a bit more vigilant.
Would you say this is simply an over-reaction or maybe something learned through experience ?

If it's not nailed down etc etc. Oop North a lot of the travelling families have a set route, covering the major events with their fun fares. These people work hard and cause no trouble. Some even pay tax. The less salubrious ones will rob their own grannies and are a fucking pain. The Police bill for the annual Appleby Horse Fair is over ?300k and the local stand the hit in their Council Tax.

No they wouldn't.

In the late 80's I used to buy and sell antique furniture, mostly for shipping. A group of travellers would camp outside Elgin nearly every summer. They used to come to my workshop to try and sell me furniture so I did get to know them. They would trust me to a point and same for me to them.

Every morning I would see 2 of the eldest daughters from the camp lugging huge containers of water from a filling station to the camp, I would give them a lift in my van, but I would have to drop them at the top of the road leading to their camp so their brothers didn't see them with me.

They would probably have chopped my balls off just for speaking to their sisters.
