Legal Issues 2

Not a funny subject for the producer. Try Procuring for illicit sex. Procuring for prostitution, Procuring for, well anything plod wants to think about. Dangerous ground. I know!!

Yeah, basically those fuckers (the State and establishment) can fuck you up anytime they want and can justify their actions by dragging up any old repressive, barking, bullshit law from as far back as Henry the 8th! Old loony laws based on the fear of witchcraft and Victorian religious dogma very rarely get repealed, they are always at the back of the State's cupboard ready to be dusted down if one of New Labour's politically correct laws doesn?t fit the bill.

But you have a vote and the best thing you can do is - don?t use it! Don't give 'them' a mandate, don't give your consent to anything or it could come back and bite you. The three main parties ARE the establishment; a vote for any of them is a vote to maintain the status quo and all the centuries of bullshit, lies and hypocrisy.

I agree with what you're saying, generally. I don't 'not vote', I go to the ballot box and write exactly why the whole thing is a waste of time. A lot of people didn't vote in Oldham and now the racist losers have seats on the council. A lot of people didn't vote in France and that fat right wing asshole managed to get a lot of votes there, too. Your vote needn't be for the establishment but I think it's important to use it if only to express your voice - regardless of if anyone hears you or not, you can at least be happy that you had your say.

Interesting to note that it's over fifty years infact since the sppeal of the Witchcraft Act, so there is a little progress, but what it boils down to is control and exploitation. Trademarks of capitalism.

Now, where's my dinner?

I don't usually do posting, but this is a topic very close to my little heart as it is something that I have been reserching for sometime, being a boring fart law student too doesn't help, but I have found a number of points that I am currently writing a paper on, with the hope that someone may actually read the dam thing.

Firstly, as a "sex worker" (sorry to those that don't like that, but that's what our wonderful government calls us), you are being denied a huge amount of both your basic human rights, and the rights to freedom and justice. Due to the "Witchcraft Act", from 1751, I believe, most models would actually be termed as a common prostitute in a court of law, as they provide some form of sexual service for cash. This sexual service can be as minimal as a glamour model looking very sweet and sexy or another model who performs b/g. That is how far broad the term is.

However, Charles Kennedy at the Lib Dems, has actually publically stated that this country needs reform to the laws governing the sex industry,so have the Green Party, but lets face it, what chance have they of getting in.

But in saying all that does anyone actually think that any political party would take notice of us mere "sex workers", after all we only represent about 1% of this countries population.

It's not that you represent only 1%, so much as that you're the WRONG 1%, i.e. not that group of floating voters which usually decides the outcome of most elections.
And, as Matt has pointed out above, look at the shit that happens when they don't turn out, or resort to a protest vote.

Hey Sam, I was at this year's annual SFC conference which featured lots of interesting people speaking / performing / demonstrating what they do. There were two political representations, one f rom the Green Party (an odd bloke who revealed he often engages in sexual activity with constituents) and, more notably, Anna Downing (I think that's her name) who represented the Young Liberal Democrats. She was there to talk about a motion that the Young Lib Dems are putting forward about legalising H/C Porn but also mentioned the work of the IUSW, of which there was also a spokesperson there. I was very impressed with the LD attitude towards workers in the industry and although she only represented the Youth wing of it, she said the paper that was being voted on had received almost unanimous support across the party.

hi sam - welcome to the forum.

congratulations on Model Safe - an excellent site, promoting a worthwhile cause.

it's refreshing to read the various articles on your site, offering much positive support and advice to girls considering a career in the adult entertainment industry: Further Careers

it's also worth highlighting this page: Health & Beauty - which draws attention to a research programme, currently being run by chelsea and westminster nhs trust, into the sexual health of adult perfomers.

btw, it so happens we have a samantha martin on our database! no relation, i suppose? ;-)
