Re: cynical""sex education "" on channel 4
I think its a good thing Channel 4 are doing with this show apart form the big fuck up in the last one when they drag porn into kiddy fiddling territory and claim you could fin it wihin 10 seconds of typing it in a search engine.
Apart form that I htink its a good thing to de stigmatise sex by actually educating these kids.
Lets face it, porn only teaches them where to stick their bits where but there is a whole load of things that come with it like how they see themselves, positive self images and stuff.
We can look forward to a futre where all women are cosmetically enhanced because of the subliminal influence of the media so progs like this stem the tide of ignorance where sex and their bodies are concerned and hoipefully reduc e these teenage pregnancies Britain is becoming famous for./

Do you think any of them actually learned anything that they did not already know?

By the looks and response from some of the pupils I'd have to say yes Essex Lad. I do think some of them have learned what they never knew.

Do you think that's because the sex education that they had in school was poor and ineffective?

it was basic at best and some might feel thats all you need to know but I think it should go beyond that such as repercussions of teenage pregnancies and the burden that comes with raising a young child.
If it was really effective I dont think we would be seeing such a sharp rise in teenage pregnancies. A lot of them calculatingly do it to get a council flat.
Probably explains a lot of cruelty to children when you think the maturity of the parent(s) is only just a step up from a childs anyway.

Its all very well being told where the clit is and its use for sexual pleasure but what about the price of that pleasure?
What do you do if your condom fails by splitting. I gues thats the advance level education that show should be taking but maybe thats in a follow up series
I'd like to see that show follow social workers around with single mums with kids in a council flat but I guess thats not good tv

When i was at school back in the 50s /60s if the likes of Anna Richardson and Dr Radha Modgil had turned up giving sex lessons it would have saved me my dinner money on buying all those Parade and H&E mags with the girls bits airbrushed out, it didnt matter anyway as i self taught with Veronica behind the bike shed !wink!
