dwnloaded some cracking concerts (bootlegs) and they are compressed zip files that play fine on the PC.
However, when I tried to burn them onto a CD, the CD player won't recognise it. How do I go from compressed files to files I can copy onto a CD?

The .mp3s aren't zip files, they're compressed inside zip files. To get them onto a cd you need to extract them from the zip files.
Download 7zip and install it on your pc. Then, all you have to do is right-click on the zip file you want, highlight '7zip' and choose 'extract here'. You'll now have a normal windows folder with the same name as the zip folder with your .mp3s in.
Now just select the .mp3s using whatever programme you're using to burn them to cd.
