Well it's election day in Oz. Tonight, after the voting closed 2 hours ago we look to be copying the 'old dart' and comming up with a parliament controlled by the independants and minor parties. It's as tight as Paris Hilton's twat - well , as tight as it once was then.

Pron - I agree that some more independent minds would be good, but some independent candidates are not aligned with major parties because they're only concerned with single issues. I mean, there were candidates from the 'Shooters and Fishers Party" on my ballot paper! There is a party called 'The Australian Sex Party' but most of their candidates aren't very sexy looking (isn't that always the way).
Some years ago, they had to change the electoral act here to stop people from running for office 'just for fun'. They had to do this because some ballot papers would have been filled with hundreds of candidates who would be lucky to get 3 votes. I think one of those guys wanted to legislate to make 500 metres equal a kilometre and thereby halving the size of Australia which would make it easier to defend and halve transport times and costs. Glad he didn't get in - my cock would have finished up even smaller.

In fact, why don't we hang all politicians and be governed by Her Maj with assistance from the Army Navy and Air Force. It would be a much fairer system and all of the shit in society could be swept away, forever.
Oh, and the EU could be told to go and fuck itself and if the Frogs or Krauts don't like it they can fuck off as well.

In a 'letter to the editor' of a major paper here the other day a guy pleaded with his fellow voters not to waste their vote by voting informal. He pointed out that 30 years ago he just wrote "Useless Bastards" on his voting slip, and they've been in power ever since!
