The story of how a large moustached, be-sandled oddball - who is head of a church he likely himself created - is planning to burn copies of the muslim holy book, has dominated the news for the last two days.

The media, as usual, while supposedly covering the story, have actually MADE the story by giving it such huge coverage. If they hadn't banged on about it this much hardly anyone would know of this guy and what him and his posse of disciples were planning to do.

Even Barack Obama has commented on it today, all because the media has made it this big. There are white supremicists in the USA who you never hear about, let alone have the President commenting on them.

Another case of the media setting the agenda and making the news rather than just reporting it, me thinks.

Thing is the majority of Yanks I meet are completely convinced that every single Muslim has a nuke up their arse and wants to shoot every westerner. This crank is the tip of the iceberg.

It is all over the news again today, the media whipping up a frenzy, and any unrest that occurs as a result will be down to them. It is worrying just how powerful the media really is. I remember people saying back in the 1990's that the Los Angeles riots, where about 50 people were killed and over $1 billion worth of damage was done to the city, was because of the TV media constantly playing an edited version of that video where Rodney King was beaten by the Police. As I said earlier, the media are supposed to report the news not make the news.
