Another Yob Caught Pissing On War Memorial

The 11th of november in Germany is the start of a traditional carnival so would be an in appropriate time for a commemoration. Both the Catholics and the Lutherans in that country have their own festivals in november for commemorating the dead in general. Italy has a commemoration of the armistice of 1918. Japan has the Hiroshima rememberance day, though there is often controversy when a senior politician is seen to celebrate Japan's war dead at shrines.

I was at the Cenotaph last Rememberance Sunday and all along Whitehall and Trafalgar Square was packed with people of all ages including a lot of young people, i hope to go this year so if anyone else is going give us a shout and maybe we could have a meet up, its a good piss up afterwards but not against the Cenotaph...

I've been to London many times and last time down I went out of my way to visit the Cenotaph. I thought it was the least I could do, to pay a bit of respect compared to what others have paid.

Just to clarify, Dick. I understand the emotive response from watching someone pissing on a war memorial. It wasn't an attempt to dismiss the seriousness of the offence.

I was just trying to give a little perspective. I've been in bars where people have been stabbed, glassed, hit with chairs & bottles and stamped on their heads. More often than not by men my own age or older. This happens in just about every major town every weekend, up and down the country but no one's there from the Daily Mail to photograph it. My main point, I suppose, was to point out it's easier to clean some piss up off some concrete than fix someone's ribs and fractured skull. There'll be more fractured skulls and knocked out teeth this weekend than pissed-on war memorials - that I can guarantee (well, I can't literally guarantee it but you get my drift).

The dead can't speak for themselves. The living were promised 'a country fit for heroes' and it never happened. Wouldn't it be more productive to agitate against this broken promise instead of public drunkeness ?

If my granfather had gone to war and died for his country and some twat pissed on his memorial I would expect the pisser and society at large to be sent a message by a court that had the twat in front in of them.In the States he would have got 4 years.Over here depending on his defence brief and their skills probably a few days working in a charity shop.

The money to build most war memorials was raised by local communities by holding various events to remember people that they would have known personally who gave their lives, there can be no excuse for using these memorials as toilets, i would imagine if anyone got caught pissing in princess diana's memorial in hyde park they would be straight up in front of the beak..

I've seen Di's memorial in Hyde Park. I remember thinking it was a urinal at first glance. It does have a self flushing mechanism.
