What really gets my goat (not that I have a goat, and if I did I wouldn't make it perform tricks, no matter how unexotic an animal it is) is pubs that have lizards and stuff in them. There is a pub in Limehouse, East London (thankfully I can't remember the name) that has about a dozen different lizard/snake/salamander type things in separate tiny glass cases throughout the pub. All these creatures do is bang on the glass all evening, desperate to get out. Not sure how the pub thinks this is going to entertain people, but my party was not the only one to leave in disgust (albeit once we'd finished our pints). The berks.

A similar criticism can be levelled at office-blocks/malls/
hospitals etc that have insufficiently-frequent maintenance contracts for their aquaria/vivaria.
The RSPCA seem not at all bothered about this.............

limehouse happens to be my manor and that is the sole reason for my knowing the public house you refer to is called 'the five bells and bladebone'. the exterior also happens to be painted in the fashion of a zebra - something which may have given you an inkling befor entering, that this is a less than classy joint.

You are quite right. I remember the zebra pattern outside now, and it was in fact that which attracted us to the place (oops). In our defence, we were mid pub-crawl, walking from Canary Wharf to Wapping, and that was the first hostelry we'd come across [we didn't know it was a pub but the painted facade looked too lairy for an office block] for almost a mile. Rest assured, I won't be going back. Poor lickle blighters. Getting to slide all over the sexalicious Angel-Long's boobs and fanny is surely a treat for any creature (and if the snake ain't willing, bagsey first in the queue...), but being locked in a plastic box, while the Stussy wearing simpletons from the bad end of Limehouse bang their guns on the side of your tank, ain't no life for no-one...

I can think of several reptiles in public life that I'd like to see in very small cases being abused by the populace of E1....
