I know this topic must be iresistable for you, but I was hoping to hear from, "Non partisan" forumites and see if they were hopeful or not for the future.

Ideally once a few people have contributed perhaps you and a Tory/ Coalition supporter would explain why we are all wrong and in fact have a huge choice once it comes to the next election. Such a debate would be great if it didn't descend into a mud slinging debacle.

So if you are a Coalition supporter fear not, you have a voice, state your case!

I think for most people the word, "Banker" conjures up an image of the Monopoly Man in his top hat. Not the lowly bank teller or the loveable besuited Halifax staff who run that ever so whacky radio station, that brings a little warmth into our lives on telly!

Mr Lizard, we all know the bankers that would face execution if the British Public could get their righteous and just, hands on them!

Politics will only ever change when the political elite of all parties are shown the door.

Nothing wrong with people studying politics etc. but far to many 'politically educated' are getting roles (The yes2av being a very good example) where they have the qualifications but neither the knowledge or experience of how things really work.

Sadly most have 'think tanks' which are full of the same 'political elite' guiding policy making decisions and only when it changes will we ever see any real change.

You'll only get that change by getting 'real people' involved in politics and those of us who want change but can't be arsed to force change need to start being bothered about the way things are done.

No as we would not be doomed with the right people in charge with priorities specifically including -

Getting far more people into worthwhile secure jobs near to where they live that pay a living wage thus cutting imports, our dependence on other countries and the strain on trunk transport routes for both people and freight.

Ensuring those who can work do while providing a decent life for those who are genuinely long term ill and disabled. Also ensuring those who need treatment and operations get then quickly so both improving quality of life for them and their families and reducing the burden on public funds and resources.

Respecting the tax payer by ensuring all public income is used to provide services not profit for the private sector and particularly non-uk companies. This includes getting essential services back in public ownership.

But since no current major political group has these objectives yes we are doomed.

Let me be perfectly frank

There are some forumites who might say

"Given Jimbo has made hundreds, nay thousands of posts slagging off Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, yet hardly a single post critical of the coalition, isn't he a bit partisan?"

And others who have argued

"That Lizard with his "No Liberals were harmed in the making of this post" at the end of every post he makes, is a bit partisan ain't he?"

Can I just make myself clear? Such forumites are cads and bounders every single one!

Cheers

Because the Germans and Japanese were able to rebuild their infrastructure - from scratch - employing the latest (contemporary) technology and 'know how' (using US $). The UK, as victors, had to 'make do' with placing sticking plaster solutions to its battered and ravaged infrastructure/technology, in short suffering a post indstrial revolution hangover. And all whilst (re)paying for its war effort thru crippling 'lend lease' as imposed by the Yanks. Simples!

It's a real shame you can't let a topic like this run its course, wihout resorting to bully boy tactics and mud slinging. I presume this is a tactic to ensure that anyone with an opposing view to yourself doesn't dare to join in the debate.
Your input simply confirms one aspect of your political leanings and that is the use of intimidation and threats to ensure only your view is ever heard. You must understand that those that hate New Labour DO NOT necessarily love the Tories. Your simplistic deductions show you have a very Stalinistic way of thinking and by acting like this, you put New Labour in a very worrying light.
David please put away your cosh and at least give my post a chance to bear fruit!

I dunno. I try to defend you from your critics and all I get is insults.

I know how Nick Clegg feels now!
