Well its getting near to that time for good music and drinking.
However before I head off, I leave you with a heartwarming suggestion from Tory MP Philip Davies who stated in the House of Commons today that the minimum wage was a hindrance to disabled jobseekers. It stops them being competitive don't you know. In other words who wants a raspberry ripple, when you can get the real deal.

Personally, I think Mr Davies might have hit on something here.
Are you a Muslim with a beard? Do potential employers think that the first thing you are going to do when given a job is pack yourself full of explosives and blow yourself and your workmates to kingdom come? Then offer to work for less than the minimum wage.
Are you a worker that looks as if you might have been in the sunshine a lot? Do you find potential employers turn you down because they think you will be spending all your working time, selling drugs, listening to gangsta rap and toting a Magnum to impress the ladeez, then offer to work for less than the minimum wage.
Apparently this chap is a member of the Campaign against Political Correctness.
Err, I am saying nothing, honest! Enjoy your evening now.

Re: Tory MP Philip Davies
There was nothing libellous in his posting, nor have I read anything that is in a DJ posting. Some might not like what he writes, but there is a great difference between libel and piss take/satire. If Davies doesn't know the difference then he is perhaps as stupid as he appeared on Newsnight just now. I think that is called 'fair comment'.
Re: Tory MP Philip Davies/ David
I can see you must be huddled in a corner of your room, rocking back and forth and giggling through your gnawed knuckles saying to yourself, "Ha! ha! I have exposed another crazy Tory with nutty, grossly un PC views, it wont be long before, I have my dream. NEW LABOUR FOR EVER AND EVER, Not long now my precious! not long now! ha!ha!he!he!ho!ho!"
Seriously though David, Davies should be able to express his views, nutty or not. I notice the Tory party has also said he's a nutter. Personally I think it is very dangerous when "Nutters" from any party are gagged or censored and only allowed to utter things that are considered PC by all and sundry. I don't think what he said was that crazy, but it does smack of sanctioning exploitation. I don't think he thought it through, which is what eccentrics have a tendency to do.
In "Spin crazy" New Labour a whole committee of PC researcher/nutballs probably pre-censors each and every speech made by it's MP's in case one of them utters the wrong thing.
I don't think that the rest of us wish to live in a system where having made his speech, the other MP's in the House would have all fallen silent and started pointing at him chanting, "Go!Go!Go!" at which point he would have been arrested and imprisoned for having uttered, "Un-Politically Correct Views!"

More tedious insults. As all forumites will notice, you just can't stop can you?
"Seriously though David, Davies should be able to express his views, nutty or not."
"Seriously though Jimbo", you completely miss the point, old man. He is welcome to express his views. People can criticise them if they wish. I criticised him.
Cheers

I agree theres nutters in every walk of live but the problem is i think Davies is really how the tories actually are in reality as opposed to the makeover job thta Cameron has been undertaking since becomming the leader.

Wayne,
Good point.
It is also worth noting that Davies has stated that he is not in favour of the minimum wage regulation for anybody.
So basically what the likes of Tory MP, Davies want is the right of employers to pay starvation wages and presumably for the state on behalf of taxpayers to step in with supplementary benefits to prevent people dying in the streets.
Cheers

Re: David
Sorry if I offended, but it is your glee, when you stumble on even the tiniest morsel of a story that you then blow up to be a major indictment against the Tories, that always makes me chuckle.
If you actually took off your, "I'm a fanatic" hat, just for a moment, what Davies said wasn't that bad at all. In the town near me there are a large number of people with various disabilities, many of whom would love to work. Some indeed work in Sainsburys and in WH Smith.
If you are disabled then most employers would choose someone who was able bodied, I suppose. I think Davies was suggesting, stupidly, that disabled people would get more chance of a job if they were paid less.
The thing to do would be to actually canvass the disabled and see what they thought.
Anyway, I would have thought a more creative idea, would be to pay the disabled, the going rate, but reimburse the employer some of his Employers National Insurance contribution. This way everyone would be happy and the minimum wage would not be breached. This idea of course is far too intelligent for a dumb ass MP to come up with, Tory or Labour.
Davies is just another dim wit. Unfortunately MP's on both sides seem to be either wiley, slimy, crooks or "nice but dim's".
And that's why we're all in the shit!
