Just a PR stunt.
Like the line from the US president to the British PM in 'Love, Actually' (probably misquoted, but you get the gist)
"you can have anything you want, as long as it's what we want"
We can't have hanging anyway, our euro masters forbid it, and petitions have to be approved by a committee first, so anything 'sensitive' won't make it, (I doubt you'll see anything thats negative about Islam, for example)
A few good ideas will be lost in a sea of crackpot ones, then it'll all go away, leaving just a few final salary pensions to be paid to the operators.

We have need of you again, great king.
Re: Hang 'em . 100,000 k to sign
The "Hang 'em high" lobby want to hang, "Child & cop killers". How's about the bastards who kicked that poor Goth to death?
Or what about the little shits who did this? Shouldn't they hang as well?
If you want to bring back hanging (Which I don't) then hang ANYONE who brutally kills another human being!
Also don't forget the number of miscarriages of justice over the last 30 years which would have resulted in a large number of innocent people being hanged.

Never has been a deterrent. It has always been State Revenge. These were the words of Albert Pierrpoint, and he knew all there was to know about Capital Punishment. The advances in modern science and DNA evidence will preclude innocents from being unjustly executed. Well here in the UK at least. As for some other god forsaken shithole country I doubt it would stop innocents being topped.

Even if we had it back on the statute, given how politically correct and a soft touch the judges are in dishing out sentences to the really evil bastards.
It wont ever get implemented anyway but even so I rue the day its even on the statute as it would be a real lapse in progress at a time when everything else looks iike its turning to shite

If you bring back hanging then get ready for many innocent people being put to their deaths. Say what you like about DNA proving people innocent, that wont help when the police FIT THEM UP. Anyone who knows piolice and how they work is they are abunch of cunts who fit up who they see fit.
Re: Hang 'em . 100,000 k to sign
The only one fitted up in my life time was Derek Bentley becaue a copper was killed.
Another who was proved to be innocent of the crime he was topped for was Timothy Evans, but he was, in all honesty, backward, and had an appalling defence. But it was probable that he killed his daughter and not his wife who was murdered by Christie, who was topped.
I still think that DNA profiling will exclude innocents from wrongful execution. The Judiciary these days would not convict if there was the slightest doubt. When hanging was on the Statute Book a Judge had no alternative but to impose a death sentance if the defendant was found guilty.
Ruth Ellis was such a case. Lord Denning who sentanced her said many years later that he had no choice due to the sentance availlable then. There was only one sentance and that was death.
