I think you will find it's the same in a lot of countries, including some where you don't get benefits and free healthcare, so compared to say, Rwanda, life's peachy.

I can already here the celebrations at New Labour HQ at the, "Good news". Not really giving a toss for the unfortunates who have been booted out of their jobs, just rejoicing at the chance of scoring a few political points against the Coalition. Politicians en masse make me puke! The whole damn lot of 'em.

Grave concern at New Labour HQ at the dreadful unemployment news:

I always ignore what the unemployment figures say because a lot of the people on Incapacity Benefit are actually using it as a means of dole. Many on that are genuine and deserve to get it, but a lot are what is often called the 'hidden unemployed'. This goes back to the 1980's when Margaret Thatcher created the fastest rise in unemployment in Britain since the 1920's. She did everything she could to get as many people onto Incapacity as possible in order to massage the unemployment figures. Many were able people who had been put on Benefit against their wishes by her policies.

Real figure of people out of work is more like 10-12 million. So add this into the equation and you solve so much :-

A friend of ours is doing "job training" (unpaid work) for 4 weeks to get his benefits after this ends they take on another & another.
With millions doing this these employers have no need to take on staff...hence more unemployed.
With most employers only giving out jobs up to 16hrs a week they don't have to pay holiday pay etc.

Same in every other developed country. If you have a magic formula please patent it and you will be the richest human of all time, even richer than Tony Blair!!

Don't you find it hilarious when our, lets say, more right wing brethren on this forum, spend hours and hours, like the Tory and Lib Dems in the first 6 months of their government slagging off the Labour government and Gordon Brown for everything that is wrong with the economy in the UK.

And then when things go completely tits up in the UK as it has in the last year despite Boy George and Dave telling us that we were out of the recession due to their stewardship a year ago, then the same brethren start posting "Oh same everywhere" "well if you have a formula let us know"

Do these people have no sense of self awareness or irony?

Cheers

The only problem with that approach is that given the finance sector (rich cunts!) fund 50% of Tory party income, then it is going to be a tad difficult!
