I can just imagine it as Walker is lead from his cell nursing his truncheon marks and the charge is put to him by Officer Dibble of being a pompous prick who grossly underestimates the intellect of the common man contrary to section 3 of the Poncy Critics From Public School Backgrounds Act 2001.

Does that Walker really believe that us plebs who have not had his university education and status are incapable of making our own decisions or having moral values and a sense of right and wrong. If this was true I would have turned into a psycho aged 12 when I saw M. Meyers butchering people in the film Halloween. Its people like him (Walker not Myers the psycho) that corrupt society. Politicians (Thatcher in particular-sorry Dibble I know you play golf with Dennis and attend the same Lodge with your fellow Plods) have corrupted the moral fabric of society more than porn could ever hope to. Is the high crime rate on inner city estates attributable to wank flicks or to twats like Mrs T who famously said "theres no such thing as society"? These young thugs robbing phones from kids are just following Thatchers advice i.e. fuck everyone else and grab what you can after all there is no reason to care about others because society does not exist. Her policies shaped the way this country has gone and created a whole new mentality amongst the young.

Actually, Officer, you're wrong about A Walker's political leanings. He came out several years ago as a rabid supporter of the Lib Dems. Perhaps that explains it........!

I think i worked it out, 'pornography of noise', here, pornography is used as a synonym for 'obscene'. And obsceneis used in the usual non technical/legal sense of obscene meaning 'bad' (compared with the legal sense of 'likely to deprave and/or corrupt'). So, as is a commom trait with literary intellectuals he used a long word ('hey - what does that mean?') for a simple concept 'bad'. So, 'the badness of noise' is what he was trying to say.

Alexander Walker used the same argument as the BBFC, 'it will/may harm (society)'. So really he is critising himself? There is no difference between Alexander Walker and the BBFC.
