There was a story that emerged a few weeks ago from whistle blowers at a number of Job Centres in which management set targets for staff to "sanction" claimants so that benefits were suspended.
The staff at the Job Centres were not only set targets but threatened with action in the event of non-compliance with the targets.
According to some whistle blowers, staff ended up targeting the vulnerable i.e. not very bright claimants, because they were the easiest to sanction when they got confused about what was being asked of them by the Job Centre in return for keeping benefits.
