"So I have solution keeping within the spirit of Islamic law..we can merrily carpet bomb Islamic countries and pay the handful of survivors left some cash for their blood money and everyone's happy"
Already been tried.
Didn't do much for Lee Rigby did it or the stream of British soldiers coming home without legs and bollocks?
Back to the drawing board.

"So far, three Saudi activists have raised objections to the ruling which is based on Saudi laws that state that a father cannot be executed for murdering his children, nor can husbands be executed for murdering their wives."
Quote is from the same article from 'The Commentator'.
"Please Note, maybe you can point us in the direction of a Christian society or state which, as per Islamic Saudi Arabia, allows the perpetrator of such heinous crimes to walk away with a fine."
I can't. Islam isn't the problem here. It Saudi Arabian law.

Islamic law and Saudi Arabian laws are not the same. You most probably think they are. Islamic law varies from country to country. Just like secular laws vary from country to country and is influenced by the culture and customs of that country.

Re: Alex L/Cockneygeezer
Mr Cockneygeezer is correct re. the variations in the importance of and adherence to sharia law in various countries.
So for example in Iran they use Shia Islamic law. In Morocco, it's a mix of sharia law and French civil codes. Sharia law is mainly used there for family disputes.
In addition there are different schools of thought within Sharia law etc. etc.

"Surely the Mutaween (religious police) are enforcing sharia law are they not and is sharia law not Islamic?"
Sharia law is Islamic but is interpreted differently in different countries. The case you are talking about is murder not religious. I don't agree with the punishment (if you can call it punishment). Your main point seems to be that Islam is bad because it didn't punish a muslim cleric for heinous crimes.
It's Saudi Arabian law based on sharia which is bad. Islam does not tell people to kill other people.
Christians and muslims kill people or behave badly to other people. Which was my original point. Atheists kill people or behave badly to other people too.
The 'punishment' is a cultural one not a religious one. All men in that country committing similar crime wouldn't have been punished. That is their male dominated culture.

Re: Alex L
Alex L it pains me to say it but YOU are correct on all points
Talking to a muslim guy today and he er gave me the right info on islamic/sharia law (unless he's wrong).
However he did say that if murderers don't pay blood money they get topped.
