"This bombardment of aspirational images and brand messages has a corrosive effect on childhood - it could be argued - and yet Cameron has never addressed this."

Agreed, also the 'look at how we live cos you'll never be able to live like us' type thing that we see in celeb magazines and on TV will effect young people too in that way. Hearing about how Wayne Rooney has just bought another Hummer, when he has six expensive cars on the driveway of his mansion already, and that Beckham commutes to work in a private jet, etc, makes a lot of impressionable youngsters who don't have much money and are devoid of opportunity, feel small.

"Good cops like good soldiers are all the more heroic by the deeds they do. Not just by virtue of their occupation"

I think some professions should generally deserve respect, such as the Police, school teachers, the armed forces, and so on, but when a bad apple is discovered that person should certainly be named, shamed, and punished.

It's unlikely they'll get all the people who did it. If this guy is guilty they may close the book after this (I stress IF he is guilty, if not he deserves to walk free obviously). There are others as you point out - we know this as Keith Blakelock was stabbed so many times. If one person goes down, and others who were responsible do not, this will bring about a lot of anger on the part of the one person who is taking the entire rap, while the others are kicking back munching on KFC bargain-buckets and watching Big Brother at home, so he might grass on his accomplaices. Either that or revenge will probably occur much later on. I remember some people who were thought to have been involved in the huge Brinks Mat gold bullion robbery, but never went down as the Police and the CPS didn't have enough evidence, were assassinated in gangland hits years later.

"I agree they need to be held to account, it's just that when they are so over-scrutinised and monitored that it hinders them doing their jobs effectively then I have an issue with it. Since the Lawrence inquiry the Police have been on the back foot so much you would think it was them who were the criminals often, rather than the criminals. As far as I'm aware street crime in London has soared since the Lawrence inquiry as the Police have to watch themselves so much over stop-and-search. You endlessly hear on TV and in the print press how the Police stop and search a lot more black people than anyone else, and the implication is that the Police are being racist. Most muggers in London are black men, so what are the Police supposed to do - go after the Chinese community or something? It's ridiculous. Political correctness puts innocent people in danger".

Basically you are saying the police should carry on as they always do. Not be subject to scrutiny or any laws. They do! Do you really think the cops give a fuck about the law or any inquiry!! They do what they want. I'm not obsessed by their racist behaviour. They mistreat most people they don't like. To be a policeman you have to be a cunt because you deal with loads of nasty people. The police will always behave like cunts otherwise they'd be fucking useless.

The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

Glad the 'cunts' run in the direction that most of us run away from....
